  1. Thanks guys, will have a think and maybe get a chance try a few on, tried a Petzl on before with the fire service but didn't do any work with it.
  2. Hi fella, going to get some stretch air sent over from the UK but the sizes seem a little strange, in jeans I'm a 36, in my Stihl Hiflex I'm an XL and that a little bite loose but fit ok, Just don't want to balls it up and have to send them back to the UK, any suggestions on sizes?
  3. As it says on the tin, looking at getting a climbing lid? Going to get one shipped out to NZ from the uk and don't know if one is better than the other. I know it's down to preference, but thought I would see what the Adults had and get some advise. Thanks for looking, Matt
  4. Had a days work today with my Stihl Hiflex type C that was in the shipping sent over from our house in the UK. Way, way to hot, and its winter here!! will be getting some cooler ones very soon. Maybe have a look at those Stretch Air ventilation ones. Will probably get them shipped over from FR Jones as there a little bit on the pricy side here in NZ.
  5. Thanks fella, I'll remember that when I order some, may get them shipped over from the UK, as it's a little cheaper.
  6. Thanks fella, I was getting hot in combat trousers and chaps, think I'll bake in my hi flex. Have to save some penny's for some stretch airs me thinks.
  7. Just wondering what trousers people use in NZ? Rocked up a few weeks ago and have been wearing chainsaw chaps till my shipping turned up with my Stihl Hi Flex trousers in. Soon realised Auckland winter is quite warm and my type C trousers are going to be a bit to warm here, especially by the time summer comes around. Like the idea of chaps, nice and cool, but prefer trousers, so what do you Southern Hemisphere chaps wear and how can I get a pair? Thanks for looking, Matt
  8. FR Jones, great new shop, helpful and friendly staff, easy to use website, look no further.
  9. In Auckland I'm afraid, would of jumped at the chance otherwise. Happy climbing.
  10. What are the chances of any being shipped to NZ?
  11. Hi Chris, so sorry for not getting back to you fella, haven't looked at this part of the site in months. Left the UK (Tunbridge Wells) two months ago and have been backpacking around Asia, and landed in Auckland a week ago. Staying with the other half folks till we get our feet on the ground, staying in Okura, Albany on the North Shore.

Where about's are you? Had a interview-dinner last night with a friend of my other half's , fingers crossed if will have a little work for me.

You must of settled in by now, how you finding it? Matt

  12. Great thread fella, if you don't like it don't read it. But the rest of us are very much interested, keep going mate.
  13. Totally agree, hence why I am moving to NZ, don't get me wrong, all country's have there problem, but at least I won't be bent over the table by some knob with brown elbow pads who isn't in the uk!! Good luck all in the UK, I'll keep a close eye to see how you get on. Now....who has the bottle opener, and the BBQ must be ready for some cray fish!!!
  14. Popped into the new FR Jones shop to pick up a 20p e-clip for my sprocket, ended up have a quick look up stairs and walked out £90 lighter. Very dangerous shop, be warned, they welcome you in with there friendly smiles, then show you to the shinny new toys up stairs and you wallet just falls open. Great new shop guys, thanks for your help. Matt
  15. Hi, I'm moving to NZ in 8 weeks and was just wondering if any you you had any tips on bits of kit that I should bring with me. Selling all saws, ropes and bulky stuff, but was thinking about shipping my harness. Should I pick up a few new bits like if they are cheaper here in the UK? Stuff like, Silky, hitch climber, rope wrench ect ect? What do you think? Matt
  16. Funny you say that, will be moving to Auckland, north shore, Albany. May give you a bell if I don't find any one over here, good luck for the next few weeks with the rugby.
  17. Hi, been going over all the splicing comments on here trying to soak up as much info as I can. Moving over to NZ next spring and wanted to be able to splice before I go. I live in Tunbridge Wells in Kent and wondered if any splicers in the area wanted to pass on there knowledge to a new comer into the Arb world? Can also travel to the south of London. Hope you can help, Matt
  18. The Urban Search and Rescue Teams use them, they have a diamond tipped chain, will cut wood and some small gage mettle. Good for gaining access into roofs for venting.
  19. Great vid fell, moving back to NZ next year and cant wait.
  20. Tampons used for packing when I had my wisdom tooth out, worked a treat. Just remember to cut the string off, get some funny looks walking back into the kitchen with cotton string at the corner of your mouth!!
  21. Might be worth ringing Kingswood, they did a demo at the Arb show. The Guy who was with Richard was talking about speed lines, half way into it he showed the crowd a good way of doing the same thing with the end of your climbing line and two rings, looked really quick and easy to set up as a back up for your lanyard.
  22. What are the dates and where is it this year?? Maybe able to talk the Mrs round to it.
  23. Hoping to get a day off as I'm on duty for the weekend, coming from Tunbridge Wells it would be a sham to miss it. I'll be the one not knowing much, asking questions and generally scratching my head!
