  1. Hi Guys,

Need a climber for one day on Wednesday. Must be a competent climber and happy with big climbs and some rigging.

Would be handy if you have your own kit and saw I will have fuel and ground saws. Must be happy to drag brash once climbing is done. Job is in Kings Lynn Norfolk or to my yard in Bexwell Downham market.

Will pay cash on the day. If all goes well may have a fair bit of work for an extra climber on a part time basis.

    Call me on 07880795462

    Thanks

    Ed

  2. I am Vat reg and since I have done this I have lost about 5% of my private jobs most of my work is commercial jobs so I am not really that's fussed the gains from being Vat reg are worth the 5% loss on the private market. I am only self employed and sub in all my climbers and grounds men when I need them and they use my kit. I agree with some of the posts about some guys under valuing them selfs and not charging enough also about a 2 man team and equipment should be around the £80k plus sales I smashed this in my 2nd year and has only got better.

The real bit of advice is to spend in your means.

Oh and don't be a busy fool it will only bite you on the bum!

  3. The great pity in this is that honest, hard-working people will lose their jobs. The blame lies with the top-brass that either under-price work or can't run a contract. I've met a number of Fountains Managers along the way and they've ranged from downright crooks to incompetent buffoons and everything in-between. Personally i'm glad they've gone and hopefully the incompetent ones will do us all a favour and change career. I couldn't give a monkeys about slander etc etc, yes I'm one of the many that has been "tucked-up" in the past so I'm entitled to my opinion.

I am with you on this one as well, But it's still very sad for the people that need to find work

  4. We had some guys two weeks ago asking If we wanted any forestry gear also asking where we are based and very interested in our kit!! Even took the long route home to make sure he was not following me home. Told him F all very rough bunch they had a black L200 53 plate I think we where just outside Necton on the A47. Told him that I was not interested but took his number I think I still have it on a till receipt in the van. Will look in the morning maybe worth a call to see what they have you never know!!

  5. Thanks for the Info had a long chat with Frank Atkinson this afternoon and he said they have mounted one on the front before and worked well and as long I am not sticking a huge crane and lifting a large weight it will work well with out locking the front up. So I am going to try it on the linkage and see what it's like.

Will take some pictures/vids and let you know.

Thanks For you very useful advice once again most appreciated

    Ed

  6. Why do you have the accountant do the vat for you? Thats the easiest part. My vat return takes me about 30 seconds. Accountant does everything else though

Because its part of the deal I have with him and it gives him a chance to have a look at my books every 3 months and makes small changes instead of have to spend loads of time at the end of the year.
