no point mate, it specifies what they want and i got nothing they want
i could do it with my eyes shut, but it means NOTHING these days
Qualification- Candidates for this role will ideally hold a minimum qualification of an AA Tech cert/ HND in Arboriculture or forestry, and hold membership of an appropriate professional body.
If you can do the job is it not worth a go?
-

Ive seen loads of your posts and you look like you are very clued up on all of the above just drop the a email you never know:thumbup:

hey eddie is the mog back and back out to work again
NO not yet they are saying friday I hope it is because we are really falling behind on work
think we are going to be working 7 days a week for the next month or so to catch up
-
Did you tell them it's registered as a tractor/Ag machine? Assuming it is?
You can’t use red plain and simple. HMCE first take a very dim view of that then they take your vehicle
Yer told them its Ag machine and yes HMCE got back to me and said no to red
-
Ive just gave VOSA a call and asked them if I would need a O licance to tow a trailer on the back of my mog for use in arb and they said I would need one. Also she said you would need one for the Mog its self! Unless it has equipment attached to it eg a chipper.
I asked about using red and she said I need to talk to HM Customs gave them a call but still no joy they are going to look in to it for me.
-
ok how long have you had this mog ? do you work local or do you do alot of miles in it
just under a year I think yer it does a fair few miles and does a lot of chipping.
-
I agree they do rock when I was in the Army we used to take them in to some really sticky places
-
How much is this whole engine swap going to cost ? why did you not just take the mog to a local hgv garage ?
My local HGV guys would not go near it
As for the cost it was £3k for the recon engine (will get £750 back for my old one) new clutch fitted oh and new flywheel £1k
£400 for them to take the old engine out and try and find out what was wrong with it.
and about £1100 to fit it this NOW includes oils filters belts sort the timing out etc...
now maybe I have been stung I dont know and tbh its to late I just want to get it back and working again as we now have a 4 week back log of work that this Mog needs to do
-
Oh I am sorry if I am going off topic, and moaning about the guys doing the work dont want to slag them off or put other people off from using them.
But some times its good to blow off a bit of steam with guys that have been in my place and understand whats going on also the good advice you have given
-
Well my mog is Ag reg it is used for a chip truck so as far as I see it I cant use red i get free Tax and No mot I dont take it on the Motorway (dont have any near us)
but If I want to tow a trailer on it for Arb work/carry chip /wood I have to have an O licance and use a Taccograph
I dont think I would ever use red because its not worth the hassle + No one can tell me for sure if i can use it.
As much as we all talk about this issue (seen loads of threads about it) I dont think any of us really no the answers
I think if oyur unsure if u can go on a motorway, Tow, use red just dont do it simply
-
Eddiegts, really sorry to hear it's not going smoothly for you. I know how frustrating that is, not to mention the expense of down time.
Sounds like you're about to join the very very long list of disgruntled ParkAgri ex-customers. For future reference, Ibbetts are not too far from you. I've never had the need to use them but have only heard good things from others.
Also, I have had spare parts from Mudie Bond and always had good advice and swift service.
Thank you
its a shame because ive always got on with them.
will give others a try next time
-
Its from a Mog so no issue there,
the only parts they need are gaskets which would only take 24hrs to get.
I think I will just get it sorted and never use them again as tbh I have not been very happy with them which is a bit of a bummer as they are only an hour from me
-
IMO a recon engine would normally not come with all the ancillaries and manifolds etc etc that would be reused from your engine, so the injector pump timing would need doing as that would have to come off your engine as would your oil filter housing so it would need a new filter/s.
There can be a big difference between short engines or long engines either if they have been reconditioned, remanufactured or are a full crated recon/reman engine which just drops in which you would probably just reuse your old starter motor and maybe alternator.
After all genuine Merc oil & fuel filters are NOT by any stretch of imagination expensive
I understand that the parts are not expensive.
thats not my point, When I asked them to quote to fit the new engine I would have thought they would have know that new filter belts and all the other bit would need fitting to it and would have put this in the price.
I also told them that its NOT coming with injectors and pump and they would have to use my old one (we had a 30 min chat about new injectors)
they are now saying that they had expected it to have come ready to install and needs 5 days to install.
I think I am being stung here and I am really not happy
going to take a drive down to have a word because I cant get hold of the boss on the phone!
-
Guys,
If you bought a recon engine would you expect it to come with Oils filters belts?
would you expect to have to sort the timing out on it?
-
well I am going to give them a call in a bit a and tell them I am only going to pay what they quoted me and see what he says.
No not keeping the old engine its going back to the guys who sold me the recon engine
-
Did you get the first price in writing??????????
No as it was all over the phone so i will have to stump up the cash But I am going to have a little chat with Ian (the boss) in the morning to let him know how unhappy i am about it! Its not so much the money its the time.
I had booked it out for work on wednesday so I will have to move the job!

Mog update
Well I was told on friday: If you can get the engine to us early monday we can fit it within a day for £xxx What they told me today: we think its going to take a bit longer 3 days!! for £xxxxxxxx
NOT happy I hate it when some one gives a time frame and price then doubbles it!!
-
I am 5ft 11 and around 13stone I am not the fastest around a tree nor am I much good at getting to the very tips. I realsised this very early on BUT I am very good at take downs and I pride myself on this. when it comes to reductions etc. I send up the guys who are good at it and when there is a large take down i do it.
You will be fine just play to you strengths
