  3. That would be a smart move, IMO.

I put a bigger engine in my u1000, it was great, often wish I had kept it.

You will need to also fit a bigger radiator.

Give A C Price a ring, he has a guy with an arctic low loader who would collect your machine.

Have you got a number for him?

    thanks

  4. No turbo 100bhp,

yer they will do the engine swap for about £1100 (is that a good price?)

but this depends if I need new clutch and others odds and sods

But I am now thinking about a bigger engine 150bhp to bring it in line with the other mogs. I know that they are more or less the same engine and you change bit and bobs to power it up.

might just change fuel injectors to bring it up 130bhp

thanks for the ebay find. Do you know if they speak english?

  5. I gave Ibbetts a call but they dont have an engine and a rebuild on mine could take up to 3 weeks and I dont have that sort of time.

still not sure what to do will have a ring round on monday and decide 1 who is going to do it 2 who to get the engine from 3 what engine to buy A new one a recon one or a 2nd hand one plus should I get it made up so its got more power??

  6. Ibbets its just down the road from Downham Market!

As for getting the engine out its not a very long job provided you have the right tools which some of us have.

I dont have the tools/skill to take it on myself  otherwise I would give it a go. Anyone fancy doing it?

going to give ibbets a call this morning

  7. Thanks guys,

why not Park Agri? I have used them before and never had a problem.

yer I have spoken to Atkinson vos and I could take it to them but it would cost a fair bit to get it there as for mobile guy it would need to be indoors with a crane etc... and I dont have this. and tbh I have spoken to a few guys who have used them and were not to happy with them.

will give newmarket hire a call monday I had thought about that but never gave them a call nice 1.

were is Ken based? could you pm his number please.

also I think the piston rings may have gone due to the lack of oil in it (no leaks) and I think it was burning the oil off. If that is the case I will prob just get a new engine apart from the above people mentioned do you know were I could get one from?

  8. Hi Guys,

I think the bottom end bearing has gone in my U1000 So I need to get it to Essex so I can get it fixed,

Can anyone move it for me from Downham Market (Norfolk)

to Nr Chelmsford (Essex) I need to get it down there for next wednesday.

It will start so It can be driven onto the low loader.

    many thanks

  9. Been on the same one myself at Kendal in the lakes, probably one of the better courses ive been on for LOLER, did you get to use the test bed downstairs and the drop test in the mill tower, we did this the second time I went certainly opened your eyes to whats what in strength and safe to carrry on using.

How long were you at fountains, i served with them from 98 to 07, worked lakes, leeds, bedale, bletchingly, scotland, blackburn.

I was there for a year helping run the EDF contract but left because I did not like the way they treated there staff and mainly the sub-contractors (not paying them for 90 + days)

As for the LOLER yer I did go down onto the test bed was very intresting, So do you think that the ticket I have Is vaild for carrying out LOLER on Arb kit?

  10. Hi Guys,

A while back I worked for a Large company (fountains) as a manager, I was ask to go and do a LOLER course it was not NPTC it was with the National Access and Rescure centre (NARC) most of the guys were single rope access and firemen. My cert says: Inpection of PPE- Competent person, .........has attended a course inspecting and assessing the condition of PEE for working @ height. the company I worked for said this is ok to carry out LOLER on our climbing Equipment.

I am not so sure I have been a climber for over 5 years etc...

    what do you think.

  11. I apologise if anything was taken wrong. But if that's what the tender quotes and there's a specialist firm In there to deal with it. It doesnt seem right. I only mentioned it because it's horrible stuff. Which can all to easily be made 10x worse!

I have now qualms about travel. You have to go to the work. Good on you for working across the country. I struggle to find it outside my hometown!

    thank you,

the only reason we are using a side arm flail is because it is grown on a very steep slope and cant cut it by hand. Also as I read the tender and from my customer the knotweed is very old and has been treated before and did not work so what they are hoping is that cuting it back will make it reshoot then spray it and kill it quicker but I am not a knotweed expert and take my guidance from my customer (the expert) the site is over 20,000 mSq so digging would not really be an option.

  12. ok look guys I am working for a jap knotweed firm who only deal with this stuff so I am sure they know what they are talking about and I am quoting from the tender doc ( set out by another jap knot weed comapny the LA & defra. So thanks for your concern. I will not bother asking again.

As for the distance I cover the whole of the Uk and even go into france & spain.

  13. Hi Guys,

Ive got a large job coming up (end of march) just outside Redruth cornwall.

I am looking for a tractor with a sidearm flail. the material to be cut is jap Knotweed bramble etc...

also I may need a 6" to 8" chipper for a few days.

If you are in the area and have one could you PM with a day rate with a driver.

I would take mine but trying to save on the transport cost.

    Thanks

    Ed

  14. connaugnts property went under sept/oct time owing millions including my mates (builders, sparks and landscapers) i got out just in time, but i dont know which arm of connaughts fountains was under:thumbdown::thumbdown:

yes connaugnt did go bust but the part fountains was under did not as it was classed as a diff comany. I was talking to some one still working for fountains and edf and its not going well at all but tbh its allways been a crock of ....... glad I got out of there! they owe the subbie cutters a lot of money and not getting paid by edf as they have not hit targets (they never have) :confused1:

  15. I have a u1000 runs a 9inch fine but lacks in power when full or towing (up hill) going to get it upgraded to 125bhp (ish) so that should help a bit I run it on big off road tyres so drink alot of fuel. tbh not much more that my 90. as for running on red I got done last year. nearly cost my my cmpany as they were going to take the mog away and crush it fine 15k and jail but I took it to court and said that I had only run one tank of red in it (i had only just got it) showed them all my fuel bills for it (fuel card) and got let of with just a slaped wrist. So i will never put red in it unless I am doing forestry work with it. (can of worms) but as i read the law we (arb guys) can not use it.
