  1. I had this when I had an L200 and as already said it was the wee mount that connected the transfer box to the chassis. It has a rubber centre to it. Sent from my HTC Hero using Tapatalk
  2. So sorry to hear that. I dread the day when my dog goes that way. Any thoughts on getting another? Not to replace, that's impossible. All the best.
  3. Thanks for that Giles, that's helpful. This is the wording of the condition: "That no trees within the application site shall be lopped, topped, pollarded or felled, and no shrubs or hedges shall be removed from the application site without the prior written consent of the Council as Planning Authority." Seems pretty vague to me.
  4. Office 2007 is mad how they have that "ribbon" on the top that changes and is supposed to make it easier! It should underline things that are wrong in red or as someone has said F7 should work or if not click on the review tab and it's on the far left.
  5. We have spoken to the council and will continue to speak to them I just want to try and work out what our rights are as they've not been too flexible thus far. I'm thinking now that we leave the trees that are there as we don't need to remove them. There are some self seeded saplings that I would like to take out and I'm sure when we had a tree survey done the guy said something about the definition of a tree. I forget what he said but I think he said anything less than a certain diameter at 1.5m wasn’t counted as a tree. Thus if this is the case then it would follow that we could take these out without needing permission from the council? If that is the case what is maximum diameter of saplings that we could take out before we need to seek permission?
  6. There is a building on the site that we are renovating. We can do that without touching any trees. There is an area at the side of the building that has trees on it. One of our conditions says we need "written permission from the council planning department to remove trees".
  7. I think because it is a condition of our planning we can't just do what we want.
  8. Not in conservation area and no tpo's. The area where the trees are is at the side of the barn and was shown as part of the site on the original planning application. I have been talking to the council I just want to know what they can insist on. We would like to have an area there with nice mature and semi mature trees on it but still have it usable for things like dogs running about and swing set for kids. They seem to just want a dense woodland there which is not really what it is at the moment. It's 40 mature trees on an area 50m long by 25m wide with maybe another 30 or 40 self seeded saplings that are about 10cm diameter at 1.5m. Surely they can't insist that we put back more trees than we cut down?
  9. We don't need to remove many trees to do the build, maybe 5 - 10 smaller ones. I have 2 questions if we do this. 1. How many trees and what size can they demand we replant? 2. Are we bound forevermore to ask planning if we want to do something to a tree or are we ok after it's signed off?
  10. It just said that we need to get written permission from planning before removing any trees. Our tree survey has said 34 out of the 40 trees on site should be removed. If we say we will replace these with 34 native broadleaf surely they can't demand we do more than that?

  12. We're starting on a barn conversion in Scotland and we're having some issues with trees. We have about a third of an acre at the side that is currently a mix of some broadleaf and pines. They are of various ages with some nice mature broadleaves and some pines of rotation age. We have been granted planning permission but one of the conditions was that we get permission to remove trees. We asked to remove trees and were asked to get a tree survey done. Got that done and it said that we should keep 6 trees but the rest were of rotation age or not in a good state. Planning wanted a landscaping scheme done so we talked to the council tree specialist who was very helpful and we came up with a planting scheme. It was basically native broadleaf round the outside and 2m spaced native broadleaf covering half the area. This was agreed with the council tree specialist and submitted to planning. Planning department says there's not enough trees and then talk to council guy. He now says that he thought we were going to plant up the whole area. I'm not sure if there really was a mis-understanding or if he's been leaned on. They want us to put 60 - 90cm whips at 2m spacing over the whole area. This seems a bit strange since that would be a lot more trees than we are going to take out and we don't just want a field of wee saplings. I've been told that because it's "woodland" it has to stay that way. Just looking for some thoughts on this and if there is anything we can do. Thanks Sent from my Hero using Tapatalk
  13. It's more like the way apps are with hierarchical menus. Pretty easy to use and quick. Just makes it more like an app rather than a website. Sent from my Hero using Tapatalk

  15. Right, I'm going to have to take a trip round some B & Q's!! Ta
  16. Had a look for wilkinson sword and they do seem to rebadge stuff but I can't find that axe. Seems a bit strange that they don't sell it.... Is there other ones that people would suggest that I can get in the UK?
  17. I was in there today and had a look but didn't see them. They had other Fiskars tools but not axes.
  18. I had an L200 for a couple of years. Converted it to run on veg oil I ended up trading it in because the bolt that held the crank pulley onto the crank was knackered. I had taken it out and replaced it but is sheered when replacing it and the new one didn't really take because of this. Was a bit of a nightmare so got shot of it. Having said that I did love having it but there are issues. They can overheat and cause problems and the new L200 has a bigger water jacket around the block because of that. The big one is the big end bearings going. I had that too... Thankfully it was still under warranty (just) so got done by Mitsi but they were so tight they didn't change the timing belt and I suspect when it was changed that might have been what caused the bolt to sheer. Anyway, best advice I can give is go over to Welcome to the Mitsubishi L200 Owners Website and the guys there will help you out, they're a great bunch. Good luck. Dave
  19. I'm trying to get my hands on one of these: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-7854-Splitting-28-Inch-4-Pound/dp/B00004SD7B]Amazon.com: Fiskars 7854 Super Splitting Axe with 28-Inch Handle and 4-1/4-Pound Head: Patio, Lawn & Garden[/ame] I can't find anywhere in the UK that sells them or even any place that will ship them to the UK. Anyone know where I can get one from? Cheers Dave
