  8. For want of ressurecting an old post, Im attempting to do the Arb and Bats course again, BCT always seem to cancel the courses in the West due to poor numbers. This time Im hoping to go to Margam Park, S Wales on 25th May. There are 5 people booked onto the course, BCT need 5 more to run the course, any takers?
  9. Hi Sloth Im not sure if I am at the moment, im thinking about it, but agree its a lot of money considering the current economic climate. 14. Hi Guys Had a call from a Mr Harwood today from DOTGOV promising to send me leads in an area predetermined by myself. Using catchy phrases like Government supported organisation and Approved EC license. All work procured through Government Channels. All for £99+vat. Has anyone ever ever really used one of these companies and have you ever gained any work from them? I think I know the answer already:001_rolleyes: Cheers N
  15. We have been using an old kubota tractor for grass cutting, which we have now sold on. I have been looking at scag pedestrian mowers and wondered what other people in the know thought of them. We won't buy a new one as we have a limited budget, does anyone know where we could find a second hand one? Any views gratefully received. Cheers
  16. All booked up for it now with SWH, thanks Porky.
  17. Thanks Porky, I will give them a call.
  18. Hi gents, I have to get my CAT training before the end of June. I can only find a provider in Birmingham which is quite a long way to do a half day course. Anybody out there know someone or somewhere in Devon, preferable North/Mid that runs this. I would be really grateful for any info, even if its the West Country or beyond. Kind regards Nick
  19. Hi Hama Ive got a Haglof electronic clinometer, it works ok, sometimes a bit fiddly with the 'one button does all'. You have to press and hold for it to fix on things, sometimes it has switched to some other setting and once or twice it has switched off. More human error than the device imho. Again I didnt need it for the PTI. Tempted to upgrade to the truepulse at some point. Dave Dowson gave me a demo at Tree Life HQ, it measures distance from the tree automatically rather than the H E C which you have to input manually. Cheers Nick
  20. True but now youve told me im going to use it all the time and annoy my mates!
  21. Will do RobArb (Ps I had to look up phyllotaxy!)
  22. Hi RobArb Acer triflorum is definately a contender! I havent got any more photos yet, but im going to get a few more shots next week of bark, leaves in situ and seeds etc (I thought, naively, my specimens would have been enough to find out what it was lol!)
  23. Thanks gollum. I cant find A. ginala in my books! Frustrating
  24. Petiole is smooth, unlike A. nickoense. Someone on uktc said it was A. negundo, but I dont think so. I think I should have taken a photo of the whole tree as well!
