  1. We've gone through every option there is and mog/pto chipper is most viable! Otherwise its drag everything out with quad/quad trailer.
  2. Hi Matt, ive been helping Dave this week on FC land near Wareham, its an old iron age hill fort. Mog required because as Dave says site is SSSI and access is limited (fine for a mog off the forestry tarck)... Not allowed to spray chip everywhere (ruling out tracked chipper) because the FC dont want the soil enriched so it has to be moved into the woodland from the heath, and theres a large volume to chip!
  3. For out and out cutting like a maniac - sugoi (curved), zubat (curved, still a beast but more refined!) For precision - Natanoko (straight) i used to use Gomtaro's but got fed up of snapping the blade at the tip I tend to go for precision these days so straight
  4. Standing dead pine is best in my experience, use birch bark (natures fire lighter) to get it going with a few dry twigs. It can be a bit finicky to get a good fire going but once it takes they burn a treat. I also find that if you make your vertical chainsaw cuts a bit wider by wiggling (technical term!) the bar/chain it helps you to pack more tinder and kindling in the gaps.
  5. Love cooking in this way! I hope you had some nice sausages with those fried onions?!

  8. Buy kit as you need it as John says and don't spend £ unless its essential. Cash flow is always the thing that gives you the biggest headache (well apart from people!). Good luck. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
