  1. Have you looked for a Triumph V6 from one of their bikes? A friend of mine managed to source one for his bike project. It should be light enough and have masses of torque.
  2. We've used ours to lift/drag logs up old railway slopes same as the van winches.
  3. Ha ha according to the top H +S Man in DCC we have to get everything we use for winching LOLER'ed. I can see a can of worms opening as we speak and a huge pot of cash needing to be opened for a LOLER Inspector and lots of winch cables to be replaced on trucks. Just had one recently replaced as the old one was severely kinked/looped and frayed. It was only replaced 6 months ago and we hadnt used it since. Must have been like it since our main depot replaced it.
  4. That would explain the "graft line" IMO. Its where the tree has grown around the nylon line. But that union looks like a healthy one IMO
  5. Is that a piece of wire or metal coming out below the union?
  6. Hi guys and girls Just wondering if Tirfor winches come under LOLER Inspections? As we noticed our LOLER inspection was over 6 months ago.
  7. Its a GRP composite material with grit siliconed the top. We get it in 2.2 metre long strips for the sleeper bridges even though the sleepers are 2.4m long. The strips on the stile steps are meant for bridges but we are now putting it on our stile steps.
  8. Where did this lot come from ha ha. Wasnt forecast but there was a warning for possible snow. From what ive heard Dorchester was in turmoil earlier as about 2 inches of snow fell in an hour. Within an hour though it had all melted then caused flash flooding.
  9. I have never heard of a Staffy X Pointer until now. Cracking looking dog though.
  10. What makes my blood boil is when they bag it then sling it into a tree or bramble patch. I've got a butterfly area to top soon before everything comes up properly but i am dreading the job as at a couple of points the ground is black with poo bags.
  11. I first thought it was one of our dogs growling but it was infact Diesel snoring is lungs out.
  12. We get them from the Keep Britain tidy website. They are free but they do ask for a donation as they are a charity. We buy them 100 at a time in A3 and A4 size. Order Your Materials
  13. The local river after last nights downpour. Got more to come tomorrow which wont be helpful for monday and tuesdays work.
  14. Nothing much to report today other than a new pond created on a stretch of trailway where the water dams up on the concrete wall. And a graphic but to the point poster we have been putting up on our sites.
  15. Shock horror its raining in the South west. River is at its lowest all winter but BBC think we could have an inch or two overnight which will thump it back up but not quite over.
  16. Not bad for a day n halfs work. You can also see the height difference between the stiles.
  17. Day two of the same sleeper bridge job. Just as well i site reccied it a week before hand. Would have only brought a single sleeper and and hand rail otherwise.
  18. My three younger Mutts. The old boy is still going strong but doesnt like his pic being taken for some reason.
  19. We had a college group out with us yesterday and out of 16 students only 6 got a go on the strimmers and that was for 20 mins at a time and that was it for the day. We spent all day on the strimmers going all guns blazing. Needless to say the students weren't happy we got an area cleared within 10 mins which took them nearly an hour to clear between 3 of them.
  20. Todays job. Install two stiles and replace a sleeper bridge with standard twin sleeper bridge with anti-slip sheets on top. Will be back tomorrow to install remainder of other stile and install non slip on higher stile and sleepers. The pictures dont do the height difference between the stiles. After that we will probably be litter picking a local stretch of trailway after contractors flailed the crap out of the brambles and small scrub which was holding the litter.
  21. The paddock was just off the main road down a track which was locked with two chains and two padlocks on forestry gates. They must have either been very quick or very organised to do that job.
  22. Felled ash trees stolen from Milton Abbas | This is Dorset I knew where all the wood was stacked and there was a mountain of it. Would have needed atleast 2 arctics to take it away as there was some hefty lumps in there.
  23. Been filling the seed feeders once a day and replacing a fat ball everyother day. Got a bird box to put up this weekend. Going to make a few soon out of off cuts from our yard. Got loads of ends of 2 inch planks to use up. Thinking of making a robin box, Blackbird box and House sparrow box.
  24. Just a bit of dusty crap but just enough to make paddocks white and everything down wind white. Was gone by lunchtime.
