  2. Check all the obvious dirty air filter? fuel filter? all else fails might need to be re-tuned. I have to get someone to this I am hopeless at it Best of luck:001_smile:
  3. Nice im very Jealous Wonder why they never changed the filler caps on the 66 to the quick release ones
  4. :thumbup:Could not agree more Macbook Pro, the most reliable and bombproof laptop, get yourself straight to an apple store. I was never an apple person and ya they take a little getting used to after using a windows based laptop, but well worth it. best of luck:001_smile:
  5. I use an 80hp 4x4 Kubota on a nursery that I work on, fitted with a quickie front loader, good grunt fairly quick on the road even with a full load and fantastic turning circle, Great tractor IMO:001_smile:
  6. Fair play to you great work theres a lot to be said for a good grounds man too
  7. Nice one Chris cheers mate, With out taking the p.ss is there a limit to how long the winch cable can be on a skidder?
  8. Cheers Lads the idea of doubling up the stems per choker chain seems like the best bet. What size dodgy winch you trying to sell me Stephen:biggrin: bearing in mind I have a 80 hp Lamborghini to put it on and im not sure how well The Royal Mail are going to take to the idea of posting it from Scotland:001_smile:
  9. great thanks, iv always been a stihl man until last week when i used a 346xp for a day in light timber terrific saw really very impressed.
  10. Heh Stephen Probably should have mentioned that, the site is in the north west of Ireland so ya wet and hilly almost as much as sunny scotland:001_smile: Ive seen the utube vids of quads in sweden etc but id be worried about it coping with a load up and wet steep ground, hmm maybe il see if i can convince some Honda dealer to demo a 4x4 quad for a day
  11. :thumbup::thumbup:
  12. whats the difference between the xpg and xp or is there one and also whats huskys triobrake?
  13. Hi Folks Im doing a bit of extracting work in young ash plantations(12-16yrs old), I have access to and 80hp tractor so thought a skidder winch would be the best for extraction but wondered would a quad and trailer be better:confused1:. any thoughts would be very welcome
  14. Hmm! I have a friend that owns a nursery and is starting to lift larger trees, might suit him mind you getting it from Essex to Offaly(S Ireland) might be an issue but il ask the question
  15. Negotiable eh? What sort of girth tree will this lift??
  16. Cool, I remember this PDF, used to work the with the chap in the red stretch airs:001_smile: Shes in great form living back in Ireland now, next door to me actually, its a bit like east enders Ill try and get a few more pics of said Oak tree and if I can figure out how to upload them I will, its known locally as the Ely,O Carroll Oak and contoray to the owners thoughts of it being several hundred years its been dendro dated and is actually about 180yrs old. Ill keep you posted Dermot
  17. Hi D I know this tree well. my knowledge of retrenchment is kind of poor though, what is the first port of call as far as starting the process on a tree of this size? As Hannah says this tree will be left as it is is until it falls but it would be lovely to try and get the owners to be a bit more proactive. I would almost be up for doing it FOC to learn something from the process Dermot
  18. cheers mate, Ive just seen the thread on the load-liner thing looks like a far cheaper option:001_smile:
  19. I suspect that the defender lovers will attack me for such a question but has anyone fitted a tipper to a ranger before? I know it doesn't have anything like the load capability of the defender but I really don't intend loading it to the gunnels honest i swear can anyone suggest a company to get the tipper built and fitted? cheers
  20. If you do go for a ranger dont go near the King cab stick to the double cab, I have my ranger king cab about a month and its fine but space in the back seats is very limited, Mpg is a good bit more than an estate etc but thats the price you pay for a 4x4 v Estate. Good luck
  21. Tip Top cheers mate Dermot
  22. Ah The power of advertising on Arbtalk just saw Rikos version which seems a lot more sensible with adjustable axel position,
  23. Thanks Chris, from the web site they claim that they are road legal brakes etc, but def worth investigating, do you know the name of the other company?
  24. A small 40hp Kubota off road but the appeal was the tipping trailer which I thought would be good for log delivery etc, in which case it would be towed by a ranger. Someone on here mentioned logic trailers but I wonder are there any other commercial options preferably European?
  25. Hmmm! Sounds dubious. Any other suggestions?
