    Mf135

135 a waste of money. Get an International 454 or a David Brown of similar size- not yet had the prices pushed up by collectors. Hang about, and I'll dig up an old thread about this...
  2. Actually, 90k is on the high side for an LDV. The other thing about them is that they have low geared diffs (and the XLWB varients even lower)! So no good at all for lots of motorway miles. Of course, that makes them excellent for local blokes like me, driving around the back lanes loaded, often towing- loads of torque!
  3. 'Running in' needs a small amount of metal to metal contact to bed things in. So converse as it may seem, putting extra oil in the mix throughout the running in period is not beneficial and possible detrimental. When running in a motobike you keep the revs low and slowly build them, but also use plenty of engine braking. Diesels tend to like the be thrashed from the off, and perform better like this, in my experience.
  4. Do they not have the local authority collect brash with a grab wagon in Sweden or somewhere like that? I'm sure I remember reading similar on here.
  5. To resurrect an old thread (might help someone), if you're having problems with year 2000 ish 2.5 turbo LDVs loosing power, have you got an engine management light on? If so then it's usually the Lucas EPIC injection system playing up. Loads of info on this thread: LDV-Sherpa.co.uk • View topic - Engine Warning Light 'Limp Mode' Help Hope someone finds this useful.
  6. Actually, the crew cab adds only around 150KG to the kerbweight- see this old thread: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/8424-ldv-weights-measures.html My XLWB crew cab ally dropside weighs in at 2360KG with a full rollcage of tools in the back section and half a tank of diesel. TBH, any 3.5 ton is gonna end up overloaded if used for tree work. But that's another story!
  7. 1-2k overpriced. For example: LDV Convoy Double Cab Tipper Truck NO VAT DIESEL MANUAL 2005/55 | eBay I love my Convoy. I disagree with the previous poster regarding rust. The underside is fine, all sealed well. And they don't rust on the panels nearly as much as a Transit! As said, much better value for money than Transit. 55 plate will be a Duratorque 2.4 with dual mass flywheel. Can be expensive when it's new clutch time. Otherwise good pullers. Don't be scared of an earlier model- I paid £1300 for a year 2000 2.5 turbo dropside double cab (ex military, 110PS), and it's proved exceptional value for money. Been working on it today as it happens- most of the stuff you can do yourself no worries.
  8. Jack of all, master of none comes to mind. I suspect it will be much like the Avant loaders, where each attachment costs half as much as the actual machine.
  9. Agree 100%. Rotating grapples are a waste of money on smaller machines. A grapple is much more versatile, it can be used to pull stumps, pluck saplings etc.
  10. 52cc Brush Cutter With Ce,Gs,Eu2 - Buy 52cc Brush Cutter,Brush Cutter Bc415,Petrol Brush Cutter Product on Alibaba.com Knock yourself out mate, order 1600pcs... I didn't knock you for buying it, as I said we all start somewhere. But it's Chinese. Everything 'budget' is.
  11. Only on tractor towed implements/trailers, where one plate registered to the farm (can be the bosses truck, whatever) can be used on all. An Ifor behind the farm pickup must have the pickups number plate on the back of it.
  12. Not chinese? Next you'll be telling us the Pope's not a Catholic
  13. That's correct. Standard fitment on my 1.5t Schaeff. The T-fitting incorporates a tap so the crowd ram is out of action when using the rotator.
  14. Indeed. Remove the pipes to the hydraulic pump (cleanliness is next to godliness) then undo the four engine mounts, disconnect the rad and out it comes. Give it a good looking over whilst it's out. How many hours has she done?

    Post borer

What type of fencing is it and what's the ground like?
  16. Sure you cooked it? Is it not rebuildable? What happened if you don't mind me asking? Would have thought it would be no trouble to get hold of another though.
  17. I'm amazed you bent the teeth. We used a Stihl long reach hedgecutter on a rights of way contract for two months. Proper abuse- cutting back stuff up to 1" thick all day long and it took two months to break the drive sprocket! Well built kit. That head is still going strong after I rebuilt it for £50 of parts.
  18. If that's a 5 second time lapse as said in the video description, then I see you spent twenty seconds trying to start the strimmer after it stalled They also smoke like Winston Churchill!
  19. An agreement with a local security firm is a must. Even if your a 6'6" cage fighting champ, what if your alarm goes off and you're worse for wear for drink/miles away? Make sure the firm have your yard location on file, and a reference code for you to quote so if there's any trouble they can look it up and get straight on it.
  20. Recommended by who, Toys'R'Us? Sorry mate, we tend to take the piss here Crack on, earn your money, then when it blows up buy a Stihl. We all have to start somewhere, I started with a Mcculloch for crying out loud!
  21. "It has a 2-stroke engine which cools the air, so you won’t have to worry that the engine burning-out." I'm selling my shares in air conditioning and Stihl!
  22. Have also sent the reg number to local security company and estate security.
