  1. That sounds like a good piece of kit but as you say probably a little too heavy for my compact tractor. Thanks
  2. Youre fairly local to me too. Can you send some pics and price? cheers
  3. Do you have any pics and would it fit on my compact tractor? What make and model is it? What age and power is it? Cheers
  4. Where in the Country are you located?
  5. Thanks guys. I’ve started the 755 up today but trouble with the pto so got a guy looking at it for me later in the week. Not sure whether to just sell this 755 Compact and buy a full size tractor and log splitter - any benefits in large tractor over compact in terms of log splitting power etc? A tractor with loading shovel and pto log splitter would be ideal but lots of money mmmmmm perhaps I'll just get this compact fixed and buy a pto splitter for it.
  6. I’ve got a 1996 John Deere 755 compact tractor sat in my 2,500 sq ft glass house which I haven’t used for years. I would like to know if there is a PTO log splitter on the market that would fit onto the compact tractor, any idea anyone?
  7. Thanks guys that’s really helpful. My current insurance (NFU) provides full comp insurance for any driver including the 17 year old lad, who I might add has rebuilt several land rovers over the years and has a 40 year old head on his shoulders – good as gold. Having said that I do have a Health & Safety duty and therefore will provide full training from a specialist company like ParkAgri, who happen to be on our doorstep. Anybody know what sort of MPG 170hp unimog produces?
  8. I have a young driver aged 18, passed his manual driving test March 2010. His driving licence states he's able to drive Category F Agricultural Tractors so does this mean he can legally drive a unimog on the public highway or are unimogs classed as something else? If so, what category would they be in? My insurance company have provided a quoatation to cover any driver for the vehicle including pto chipper so I assume he's ok if they'll insure him then must be legal?
  9. Woodpicker, Just noticed reading through some previous threads that you are getting £30 per ton for your wood chip. Can I ask who the buyer is and would they cover Essex? You can pm if you prefer. Thanks
  10. Thanks for that. I assume this is something you've done? Did the builder merchants pay for chip or do you give it to them to sell? I've heard there are companies that buy bulk timber/chip for power stations, do you know anything about this? Cheers
  11. We are looking to clear several tons of wood chip from our yard in Essex. Does anybody have any experience in selling wood chip in bulk? If so, can you advise criteria together with useful contacts and if possible guide prices.
  12. I wouldnt bother mate just get yourself an Iphone same spec plus it does more although a little smaller but does the job.
  13. Best people are fr jones or George carr Bristol both I have found to offer the best deals in the industry unless someone else knows better?
  14. Hi I'm trying to find a table to provide water demands for shrubs like pyracantha, wisteria and rosa rugosa any idea what the water demands are or where I can reference the information. I've tried NHBC but that only covers trees? Many thanks stuart
  15. I have self employed climbers working for me and they all want an increase on their daily rate but we are Market driven and I can't win the work in the current climate with so many young inexperienced climbers setting themselves up doing crap work for silly money. The public needs educating as to what is a good job and what isn't then perhaps we can all work towards fair day rates for what is a highly skilled job. Few of my guys have found work in Norway very well paid but 12 hour days think someone mentioned £200-£250 a day not bad hey. Good luck think we're all going to need it!
  16. Think you would be wise to gain some experience from a good arb company before venturing out on your own , too many novices hacking our tree stock!
