  1. How about this for a tree support, great idea and saved the tree from being felled. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Yup, jenkinsons collected ours last week. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Stobarts - you'll need access for an artic lorry plus machine to load, we use a telehandler with grain bucket takes about 15-20minutes to load 28 tons. Sorted - self billing to so no invoices to raise. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Dare I say it but Dale Farm springs to mind. Told police to look for my Ifor Williams electric tipping trailer but they wouldn't go near the place, mind you that was couple of years ago. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. What size chipper you looking for? How much you paying? Does it include accommodation, food & beverages? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. 👍 Good work Steve 😃 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. I've been using Arbtalk for several years and have found a wealth of information from people who are pleased to share their knowledge and experience. However, at the other end of the spectrum there are those that are not the sharpest tools on the bench who feel it necessary to be rude & obnoxious. I applaud the scholars amongst us to continue supporting Arbtalk and the tools to stay in the box. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. We had an HSE inspection some time back. I received a telephone call from HSE telling me an inspector would visit within three days at 10.00am. They were prepared to visit us on site or in our yard so I decided the yard would be better. I was lead to believe it was in my interest to accept the appointment, which I did. The inspector arrived introduced himself with ID and asked to see where we stored equipment & climbing/rigging gear. He went through all our paperwork from insurance, to risk assessments and method statements. Fortunately, I had done a course during the months leading up to the random inspection so was very well prepared and we passed with flying colours. The inspector said they were making random visits to arbs but I'm not aware of any other contractors being inspected. No charges were incurred but that was before the new regs came in last Autumn. Be safe people! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Neither am I but with all the press it made me smile, no worries just trying to bring a little light to a dark room. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Steve, you need to get a sense of humour before blocking posts without first reading them. See lounge post here's a copy...it's called a joke. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Steve, I've tried to click on Private Messages in Arbtrader using my iPhone & it won't let me access, it simply defaults to mobile format six buttons screen. In fact it's the same for all the top right buttons in full screen within Arbtrader via iPhone. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Steve, I've placed an advert on Arbtrader this evening. I presume any messages in response to the ads will be sent to my arbtalk account is this correct? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Of course that'll put you in the VAT category so be prepared for that to. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. We've been running the Mog alongside our smaller truck & chipper and its worked really well. We had a few problems with cracked air pipes on the Mog but replaced those as they're only cheap and it's been great. Usual greasing and ensuring water & oil is topped up before she goes out each day. I'm reluctant to sell the Mog but needs must my small truck has been written off and I need another one so it makes sense to sell Mog & PTO Schiessling 440ZX chipper plus Timberwolf TW150 chipper and invest in either brand new or nearly new truck & chipper. I do really like Schiessling chippers so ill aim for a towable model, the dilemma is which make & model small truck do I go for? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Thanks ill check them out. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. No not yet. Haven't got round to advertising. Will put it on Arbtrader soon. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. No the Unimogs got to go to finance replacing our smaller isuzu truck which has been written off, sadly. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Why do you say it'll cost a lot to run? The Cambridge company have quoted £34k plus vat for fully kitted landy. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Time has come to invest in a new truck and sell my Unimog & Schiessling chipper. Thinking of a Landrover 130 with fixed tool box and custom built tip body - any ideas where I can get a decent job. Thinking of Foleys - Harlow & another in Cambridge but can't think of their name right now. Pros & Cons of landy Arb truck? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Yeah, not a moan more a wake up call to the Busy Fools who want to work for silly money. I wouldn't mind but I get fed up wasting my time pricing against them, hindsight is a wonderful thing and you never know who you're up against cos prospects can't remember their name when you try to qualify before your visit. 21. Having had the joy of employing builders last year I was amazed at how much they want for what they consider to be a days work, some wanted £200/250 per day per man! They hardly wear any PPE. H & S is pretty much non existent especially risk assessment or method statements. I'm clearly in the wrong game cos the builders houses I visit to price work are all huge with the usual Range Rovers & Audi's on the drive. Someone should start a thread for us arbs - pics of your family car bet they're not as fancy as builders! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. I have to say it goes from one extreme to the other just heard of a company charging £800 a day plus vat (£960) for a 3 man gang etc now that's where I'd rather be with my guys. Sounds crazy but when you consider decent Arb truck & chipper £50k, climbing kits & inspections, insurance, saws & equipment - that's before you look at basic mans wages for skilled & unskilled staff. I know from bitter experience staff damage tools & trucks so you've got to factor replacement gear into the equation too. Food for thought! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Don't waste your time or reputation! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Busy Fools It seems there are a lot of people out there doing silly prices whether they're new to the industry or just haven't a clue I'm amazed at some of the figures I'm hearing for a 3 man gang (climber x2 & ground x1) truck, chipper and equipment £200 per day! That's the road to ruin and drives the industry into the ground! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
