  1. Doing the eBay advert bidding on a business card is pretty low on par with travellers id say, would you have any confidence in a company you're going to invite into your home - no chance steer clear along with leaflets through doors. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Big yellow storage or similar - just an idea. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Our clients were very good they allowed us to dismantle and fell the stem on day one. We then returned to mill the remaining stem getting lots of really nice timber to make furniture after air drying for about 18 months. Sadly, we hit metal probably embedded barbed wire/nails in the lower stem which took two teeth off the circular blade, fortunately we have several spares. Now acquired a small metal detector to scan stem base etc in future. The tree stump has also been ground so job done. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. You've lost me. Do you know this particular site? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Oak suffered from beefsteak fungus hence the brown in the timber Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. The mills can be a lot of money and making them pay commercially is a challenge. I'm happy to mill for others but getting the word out there and building contacts takes time. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. That's what I was always lead to believe mill whilst green then season, my milled timber is stored in a grain barn perfect and naturally vented. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. How long did you season the timber before milling and cabinet making? Great piece of furniture. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Couple of snaps showing our Lucas mill in action, excellent machine. Very satisfying. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Steve, only had arbtalk for couple of days but as I scroll through posts and open one when I close it it takes me back to beginning of list so I have to keep scrolling which means getting to the end is going to take forever. Is there a way round it? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  12. eBay ID 181071846192
  13. Thanks Jon
  14. I can email you a pic there is a smaller section around 8" diameter. I have smaller pieces from all the branch material because we didn't chip any of the tree.
  15. I like what you did there Dave, cheers mate will take a gamble and post it on eBay.
  16. I have 4 sections of Monkey Puzzle timber approximately 400mm Dia. X 1000mm Should I cut it up for firewood or try to sell to the wood turning community? It was cut approx. two weeks ago and stored upright as suggested. Is there much demand for this sort of timber?
  17. Thanks guys thats really useful information in particular Alec for a very detailed answer. I'd be happy to mill the timber and make furniture more from the satisfaction of creating an object of beauty and if I can sell then that would be a bonus too.
  18. That's sounds pretty straight forward - does it take a long time to steam bend the timber?
  19. Very impressive. How do you steam bend the timber? Any pics or video showing how it's done? Thanks
  20. Ive got oak & yew stems approx. 6m long x 750mm Dia. I want to mill but not sure what would be my best cash return; do I mill into beams, posts or make a piece of furniture like the guy on here that made a picnic table and sold it for £450? In need of some sound advice please?
  21. Try this guy he's got everything you're looking for just back from Norway. 01245 360339
  22. Thanks John I've watched your video clips & found them useful. I have a couple of oaks coming up on different sites to be felled. I have access to hire a Lucas mill but thought it would be handy to have my own if someone has one tucked away not being used. On reflection it might be money tied up for the odd milling project. It would be good to meet up next time you're planning milling timber. Thanks
  23. I'm looking for a reasonably priced Lucas saw mill or similar mobile sawmill. Anyone got one tucked away that they don't use? Inbox me - thanks Any constructive advice greatly received on milling etc.
  24. Looking for a groundsman ideally with chainsaw & aerial rescue tickets to work alongside climber on a self employed basis as and when required. Must have means of getting to & from site/yard in chelmsford, Essex area. PM details of industry experience; qualifications & anticipated day rate.
  25. Thats a good tip for sure. Ive decided to buy a copy so dont panic anyone thats concerned about copyright issues - im legit.
