  1. Depending on what the job is you could also try looking for someone with a praxis 5hp machine, carry it anywhere
  2. Am interested, will call you a bit later to discuss, unless you have someone already
  3. Will work within an hours drive of chesterfield
  4. Was told not to run less than 20" unless you change carb settings or something. Might be wrong just what I was told when I looked into it

    Husky 42 problems

Saws finally back and all seems good, didn't charge any extra for repair, but didn't say what they did either. after a quick look it seems they have replaced carb boot. And for them sorting the problem to my mates satisfaction there reward is that he just bought a new husky off them, despite the fact he could have got it all of £20 cheaper at a larger non local dealer. Sometimes local dealers can get there prices low enough that when you include the after sales service it's a no brainer
  6. Over the years I've tried many insurers always with the same result, they don't insure aftermarket mods. Now I bought my truck as a chassis cab and had an ally chip box and tipper put on. NFU are the only company willing to insure it. Does beg the question, how many people drive uninsured due to non disclosure of after market mods
  7. Cheers for that. Don't have compressor, everytime I get close to buying one the money gets spent on something else, do have a handheld steam cleaner, that I won't be using lol other half would only complain I'd got oil on it lol
  8. Is this feasible? or would it cause damage, obviously would have to be very careful around carb
  9. A 2100 cd just went for £440 on eBay and half a one requiring pot and piston i think sold for over £100. I keep meaning to drag mine out the garage and sell it. If you read the spec for it, says you can put a 60" bar on it, would not like to use that, the 36" I have on mine is enough lol

    Husky 42 problems

Could the 42 have a carb boot issue as I called into dealers and they said they couldn't find fault, took saw out back and after a couple of cuts saw was running on and cutting out as before. So it seams to be after the saw has been put under load, dealer now thinks it could be clutch issue
  11. Mine doesn't have a decompression valve, I did swap the standard plastic handle for a stihl elastostart one I had lying around, doesn't hurt so much when it rips through your fingers, I can let you have a set of dumb bells might help ya weak arms lol
  12. Hi all . Looking to hire a 6" tracked chipper end of next week, with or without operator, Job is between chesterfield and Mansfield. And before any one says I know I can hire one from orange plant, but why would I want to travel that far!!! Doesn't have to be next week though, probably take half day at most . Cheers
  13. Try lister wilder at Wallingford, normally hired machines from Reading depot but think they can arrange collection from Wallingford,

    Husky 42 problems

Saw is being taken back in morning, so they get another chance, personally would want my old carb back on and refund, then I wouldn't mind paying for the actual fix. Plus they charged £3 + vat for fuel and oil and the saw was nearly full when it went in

    Husky 42 problems

You'll like this, not a lot but you'll like it, saw has gone to local dealer, he passed on the information you gave me, they looked at it decided that putting a second hand carb that they happened to have lying around on it and then with a new plug jobs a good un. £90 down and the saw runs exactly the same way as it did when it went in. Am interested to see how they manage to change the seal as you suggested and justify the fee for changing carb
  16. Which side of derby are you? Which days are you available to work? I might have a day coming up soon, but certainly would not expect you to work for nothing ( not unless your useless and cost me money ) lol
  17. Thanks all for support and advice
  18. Sorry to be blunt but my profit margin means jack when my 7 month old needs milk and nappies, this is the issue, it's no longer about profit it's about existing
  19. All sound advice but after 20 years in the industry I never expected to be struggling to support my family quite so much, have now got to call bank and see about extending overdraft
  20. I am currently facing the dilemma am sure alot of others are facing, more or increased bills and reduced work. I seem to spend more time at home than at work recently. Now being self employed owning my own equipment and with very few over heads plus an attitude of I'd rather be at work than at home the dilemma is do I price jobs cheaply to pay the bills now or stay at a fair price and sit at home? Afterall faced with paying ya gas bill or having a tree pruned which would you do
