  5. Selling timber should make money not offset some of it. Forestry and woodland management is a lot different to tickling apple trees and lovingly embrassing saplings, you need to know timber markets, produce, haulage, harvesting systems ecology, grants etc
  6. 99.9% of rigging can be done with a webbing sling and steel grab

  10. Took the van down to local auto electrician today. Assuming motor etc is ok he's going to rip out that stupid quizzical box and install up down button, less to go wrong and I'll have a new cubby hole on the dash
  11. Got called out to the yard at 1.30am this morning with the van on fire. Its a 59 plate transit with one of those stupid tipper control boxes which asks you lots of questions before you're permitted to tip which sometimes can have a mind of its own when tipping. It seems the unit has switched it self on and tipped and carried on tipping till the units electrics set on fire. Due to a spate of recent break ins we have a night watchmen on who smelt the fire and quickly came with the extinguisher and called me out. Lesson learned - isolate the tipper of to go and try and lower the bed now and see if she will start, it would't last night James x

  17. There been some fantastic shows on bbc4 a lately the science of soil and botany a blooming history where well worth a watch
  18. It's nice if you run the crew and work direct without this subbing malarkey I like the variety, I don't mind getting my head down and smashing brambles with a brushcutter for hours. I'd rather munch through a load of thorn with a big pair of gauntlets on and decent chipper all day with no drag no chip to cart of site and no raking no gnome dodging and no working for cretins on domestic jobs.

  20. That's what put me off taking it on, there's a lot of outlay in materials i imagine sticking it in is easy just auger hole add a splash of concrete and bolt in panel

  22. We keep getting offered pallisade work never done it and I hear it can be good coin. Unfortunately I've never erected a fence of any description in my life
  23. Think I saw that, hell of a lot of pallisade if its right job. Who's doing the fencing
  24. Andy never got it, he wanted it bad but offered nothing as he does. So offered it around got a small fist full of notes which is more than he's ever given me You owe me lots of drinks already
