  1. According to research carried out by retail analyst Mintel there has been a surge in the number of middle aged men choosing to get on two wheels. The results can be seen on sat and sunday mornings as middle aged blokes polish the rear derailer, lower the mirrored shades and head to the hills to join thousands of other mamils. So a man becomes fitter and happier, where's the middle age crisis in that? put your name on the list?

    X factor

Well it's that time of year again when the other half gets all excited about the new series of x factor. How many of you endure the racket in the background and occasionally tut or splurt out 'what the hell is that?' Well got me thinking,a lot of people have hidden talents apart from their day job.If you were on Arbfactor what would your slot involve? Would it be a rendition of Barry Manilows 'can't smile without you? Are you in the magic circle? Can Frank juggle 4 skittles at once? Me,well I can't sing but have been know to enjoy joining in (words and actions) to Buster Bloodvessel's Lip up Fatty............Listen to the music, shuffle your feet, listen to the music of the fatty beat
  3. Dumbell presses offer a wider range of stretch and hit those fibres not normally brought into play. Also eastern block weight athletes combine heavy weights with push high press ups(do a normal press up really quickly pushing yourself off the ground and break the fall under controled power)do this till you collapse in a heap.It develops explosive power and ensures that red and white muscle fibres are stimulated.
  4. Frank,it's a good topic for discussion.Essentially the ticket is a green light to consolidate and enhance skills.I do think there is merit in having a loler type system were a ticketed climber should keep a record of were he/she has practised ariel rescue, mandatory every six months?,and areas that they feel needs improving.Employer and employee both benefit from this,it's not under test conditions and demonstrates health and safety awareness.
  5. I wouldn't use debt collection agencies to start with.Write them a letter politely stating that you can see of no reason why they should not have paid you monies owed.Invite them to respond in writing(this demonstrates that you are serious and intent on making things official)and give them a reasonable period to respond(usually 2weeks) and state that an unsatisfactory response will lead to instructions been given to your solicitor to instigate legal proceedings.Best of luck.
  6. Yes it's unpleasant been wet within the first hour of the day the day and spare shirts in the cab ease the discomfort.Having said that we have had a dry year, driest on record, and compared to the last 2 summers we've got it good.I do think we are a bit soft these days.If you think you are a bit hard done to just think about our forefathers who spent weeks in trenches soaking wet through and a nice case of footrot. They didn't have a nicewarm bath waiting at the end of the day,a pie and mash supper and a pint of real ale to ease their pain.
  7. It's all very commendable to act on one's consience and it demonstrates that any person who even thinks about it is a good person. The thing is were does it all stop.If an owner is aware that there has been a change in a trees appearance and they choose not to get it checked out they are negligent just as much as if they knowingly drive around with faulty brakes. We can only be responsible for so much and I don't think we can be resonably expected to feel like should protect the whole of society. It could drive you mad thinking about it and could lead you to knocking on people's doors telling them that their loose roof tiles are dangerous or are they aware of the dangers of the combination of garden ponds and small children. We can't play god.
  8. I tell people that it's free within a 40 mile radius and thereafter they should ask for a delivery cost. This works and the furthest ive delivered is 60 miles.
