  1. Moving a few ash logs for next years firewood.
  2. There's a couple of phrases I use which I can't help saying when delivering wood. When I see the customer filling up the wheel barrow or log basket I say ' that's the beauty of firewood,it warms you up even before you burn it' or 'If it was any more seasoned it would be fossilized'
  3. Alone in the Wilderness- Mike Tomkies. For anyone who liked the Guy Grieve book and all of BB's books then you will love all of mikes books. Also rec 'a last wild place ' and Between Earth and Paradise.

  5. Can anyone suggest any companies that provide good value tractor Insurance ? NFU won't even quote because I don't have any existing policies with them and Aviva bump up the quotes If you use your tractor on general treework jobs because they class it as 'forestry contracting'!

  7. I wonder what the dolphins think about this,or even the sharks or even every living creature in the sea !
  8. Interesting thread Frank.I have since purchased the 'heating with wood' book by Andy Reynolds and it offers quite a different insight into firewood. The same author wrote a book on wind and solar electricity and this is even more gripping. If like me you struggle to grasp the technology behind renewable energy read this book and it all makes complete sense. The link to LiLi ,low impact living ,opens up a whole new world to anyone interested in self sufficiency.
  9. Would welcome thoughts on what at first glance seems like a nice little tractor for small scale forestry and yard tractor
  10. If only it was that simple.Im afraid the Hse aren't happy with self loler examination as they see it as a compromise of health and safety procedures as it could be argued that the examination wasn't impartial.I have the loler qualification and send my own kit out to someone else.If anyone wants their kit examined in the East Yorks/lincs regions I'd be happy to provide a service.
  11. Can anyone recommend an Insurance provider for commercial vehicles, fleet group etc.In particular someone who dosen't quote massive add ons when you have a new employee and want to add his/her name to the policy.
  12. With all this snow about it's made me realise how useful an open sided barn type shelter would be.Does anyone know of any self assembly kits or have plans to build one from telegraph poles or steel girders.
  13. North lincs mate, was fun to start with, now a bit of a pain.
  14. A few more pics. When I took these I could see ice crystals in the air.
