  3. Im definitely planning a cheeky stealth climb up that bad boy one day! Looks like an awesome view!
  4. The maximum attachment size on googlemail is 25mb apparently so I wouldnt have it. cheers for the advice tho.
  5. right ive sent all i can but sadly some of the files are too big. if there is a way i can put them on here and send them i will. but i think the most useful bits for your work are in the lecture notes word file on the first couple of pages. good luck

  9. Yea. I think I will have to put it off for a while til ive got a bit more money. Buckingham Velcro Wrap Pads for Climbing Spikes/Irons on eBay (end time 28-Aug-10 20:00:50 BST) found them on ebay a bit cheaper if you are interested. I though the velcro was a lot more comfortable.
  10. Thanks GnarlyOak. They rnt cheap are they... Will give em a ring soon.
  11. I was given some new Buckingham C Irons today by a friend. Buckingham C Irons - Sorbus International Ive had a go in them and some others with velcro top straps. I found the ones with the velco straps much more comfortable. So I am just wondering, can you get velcro straps for this model of Buckingham spikes. Have had a look on the net but didnt see Buckingham velcro straps, only Bashlin ones.. Would Bashlin ones work? Cheers, Ben
  12. Just a few pictures
  13. Was a great day out for me. Thanks to everyone who made it possible. Good to put some names to faces. Thanks Justin
  14. The Orange powdery stuff on the tree trunks is Trentepohlia I think... Its an Alga that uses carotene rather than chlorophyll to produce energy from light. It is like a lichen except that it does not have a symbiotic relationship with a fungi. I know nothing about mushrooms and fungi tho! haha
  15. I'll be there on saturday from opening.. whenever that is?
  16. SOunds like a plan!!
  17. Have you been to the one in Barnes Monkey? It is a really beasty. I was speaking to Tony Kirkham about it and he thinks it was bundle planted and they forgot to go back and removed the ones with less vigour. He seems to think its so huge because it essentially has four 'engines' rather than one.

    Thinner rope?

Thanks for the responses everyone. Justin, that's very good of you. Would be keen to try it out.

    Thinner rope?

Also in price haha. Yea I need to pull my finger out and have a go I suppose. I would like to try Imori or Poison ivy as with my little knowledge they seem to be best of both worlds ropes..

    Thinner rope?

Thanks for the offer Mark. I would be keen to have a little play at the show but I dont really have the money to buy another rope right at the moment although I suppose it depends on how good a deal it is I need to earn money rather than spend it but I seem to attract stuff.
  22. This thread has been a constant source of amusement for me! Shame to see it go soon. There have been some great points made too. Liking your point of view LancsMike.. Summed up my thoughts better than I could ever put it.
  23. This will probably get the same sort of response as the 'which harness' threads. But I am interested in some opinions... I have only ever climbed on 13mm rope, but I am considering getting a thinner rope next time. Just wondered peoples opinions on the different thinner ropes out there.. Blaze? Poison Ivy? Imori? Tachyon? Is one better than the rest? or is there little noticeable difference between them? Do some have better abrasion resistance than others? Cheers
  24. That is a pretty fair view and I am sitting on the fence between an Agnostic and an Atheist anyway:thumbup1: Dawkins isn't a great guy but he deals with an interesting subject and believe me I'm not evangelistic converter either way:laugh1:
  25. That is a very cool fossil mate. My take would be that if the bigger fish had not been eating the other fish perhaps the skeleton of the smaller fish was partially covered by the larger fish and the two were, as you say, compressed together in an time period of net sediment deposition. I would also suggest that the pressure of X depth by Y area of water needed to cover the two is massive anyway regardless of whether there was a flood at the time on not. I would also think that any evidence of a sea level change large enough to cover all land on Earth would be above sea level as the water would have risen to cover the land. Supposing that you say that fossil was found above sea level anyway. Well in order to have got there that fossil and sediment was once underwater. To me that then says that plate tectonics exist. Which can perhaps explain such incidents in the religious books as floods. (Asian tsunami??) Lots of cultures have flood stories because floods can happen fairly regularly. Flooding could also be a result of changes in the level of ice stored at the poles.
