  1. Yea it should turn cack your pants mode into normal descent haha, Reading the blurb though it says not to be used with the uni in a chest ascender application. Aka with a bungee. If thats the case it pretty much kills the barrel for me.
  2. This is a sweet idea and will work really well! As long as you are mindful of the forces and angles involved and put your weight into the line while still lanyarded in it should be fine Ive done it with my lanyard before. Works well doubled rope too if you pop each leg through the separate crabs on your lanyard. I miss climbing angophoras! Enjoy it Nick.
  3. To be fair if you use the right diameter line, grab the rope above the uni the slack just drops through if you are using a neck elastic to hold the uni up. When not using a neck elastic a captive bottom arm would help massively
  4. True Joe. You could say they were stupid to build the Uni out of Ali too!! I think there is one with steel wear points coming out soon. Bit more pricey though:001_rolleyes:
  5. Class 2 just leaves the legs way too stiff for use as friction cord. Which is why people use a modified class 1 for friction cord applications
  6. Awesome opportunity here for someone free and single. Ive just got back for a couple of years in Australia! Would recommend it to anyone and would consider it again myself! Good luck finding people Silver Squirrel. Are you offering sponsership or are these positions for people on working holiday visas?
  7. To be quite honest I would rather spend 80$ on a throwpod than a barrel attachment. At least the throwpod won't wear out and need a new one purchased. Whereas the barrel is going to take a lot of the the wear off the Uni. Is it Ali or Steel though??
  8. Used a 461 recently an was very impressed.
  9. The spiders are not too bad.. I think the huntsman spiders are awesome!! The heat on the other hand it tough! But you get used to that too! Oz is awesome and if you have a couple of years under your belt before you go you will come on leaps and bounds quickly. Challenging trees and environment in general.
  10. Smart Tony! I like it a lot.
  11. if you find someone that does stock it let me know!!!
  12. 80USD for a barrel attachment though..
  13. My concern is loosing the self tending on spikes with a neck elastic. Looks like the barrel might add too much direction change to allow self tending. Could easily make an eye with the end of the barrel though..
  14. Would like to check a sidewinder out but I just feel like im going to break it too soon.. Plus I cant justify buying a whole package when I already have a cinch and can splice too.
  15. That looks good Dave! Is there still somewhere to clip a neck bungee into though? I like being able to spike up stems on removals with the bungee on and the slack just drops through. Will/can it do the same with the barrel attached! If so I need to get a barrel.
  16. Used one today taking down a lime tree.. Pulls like a train!
  17. Any rope will work fine mate. 13mm is slower and 11mm is fast as you cant adjust the zk2. Ive used blaze a fair bit with the zk2 and ive been happy enough.. You might find it a bit bouncy though.
  18. I wonder if that is tuttle again on ebay? http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=324153&an=0&page=2
  19. Cougar blue, xtc and a mankey bit of blaze:001_huh:
  20. Anyone know where you can buy sterling snakebite or htp in the UK? Fancy the 11mm
  21. I couldnt bare going back to prussics.. VT and hitchclimber for doubled rope. Wrench or Uni for SRT. Happy days.. Ive got a 50m, 37 and 20 ish
  22. Can do a 50m tree with a choked anchor point SRT. Just use another rope to pull it out with. Or a 25m tree base anchored.. 50m is plenty for me
  23. Could quite easily make rated tethers out of 6mm globe folded 4 ways and machine stitched and heat shrinked for the HC pulley. They could do 8mm ocean polyester for the pinto. Job done. Just needs a company with a stitching machine to jump on it! Oh and the rope runner looks awesome Kevin! Would love to have a go on one mate, I love shiny new things
  24. Stiffer legs certainly helps reduce the sit back at bit! Nice splicing Joe thats smart!
