  3. Hey guys? just wondering if anybody has worked in the Swiss region? going there next year. and Would be based in Winterthur, looking at mainly at contracting around the and Zurich and also Germany. but could also work at a sweet company if anyone know one. any help would be great. type of work etc, Heard its a bit of a mission to get a Visa tho ay? Cheers MOG
  4. trees are in Victoria, Australia and Western Australia. Looking at going to Tassy very big ones they 95m+ havent got gear with me tonite but i get something up soon. Pretty simple tho, set rocket system up as normal. put elastic clip bit to your bineer which attaches to your mini traxtion and yourself. and the rest is all the same. Also think Henessey hammock's are the way for staying up there. very light and quick to setup and perfect for planes, walking etc etc. Cheers MOG
  5. Also love to climb huge trees, 91m biggest but most amazing was 81m, purely for self research . i use the Rocket system but we changed the way the bungee works. all equipment needed is in this Pic and once you get too top, just need to take of mini traxtion and left foot ascender and right foot ascender. Hope that helps and simplify things Cheers MOG
  6. Cheers Guys, Yeah NZ is a amazing place. especially if your into doing generally crazy stuff. Well in the normal person's eyes! not crazy Arborists . Theres few vid's of Norway and Australia too. Also mint places, trees, mountains and people.

  8. haha niceone andy, yeah true. my point wasnt take spikes outta ur climbing kit or not use them for all takedowns. i was saying, that sometimes i prefer to take down without em and climb free. like before right tools for right situtation, just wanted to know if other people did this. Now i recall;p theres a massive difference in working on your own and wearing steel toes. one you can die! haha nice one point tho bro. @ adam i have the ones with the buckle for the foot strap, so you can tighten em up properly.
  9. Nar man, i think it is just user preference tbh. but some cost more than others, just my opinion of the rope but globe similar but hurts your hands as a very small 10mm and very hard on the hands too.
  10. you can get good walking boots with steel toes in them, there there best for comfort and climbing grip etc.
  11. got 70m and its more than worth it. at 70m it has no stretch! well none that you could notice. Couldnt recommend it enough for assess line but yeah hits the pocket hard. amazing to footlock with, just grabs easy and runs really smooth with ascenders. if you thoses few seconds matter, i guess it counts. if not, you hav alot of money to spend. have you seen Joe harris and Kiah martin retractable landyard? dont want to blow ur bubble but they had it for a few years. Kiah's is pretty compact, got 6m of blaze in it. i try and get a pic of it and show you. Awesome on the Move to NZ, amazing place and great people. Lots going on in the climbing in sceen and some of the best in the world. i am sure u will enjoy it. need any advice/tips about the place PM. as i have lived there for 3 Years and worked for lots of different compaines. Cheers MOG
  14. system i use, SRT with hand ascender and Pantin, both dont need to be back up or even life support. As you put you footlock prussik above with atleast 8 wraps for single line. One hand underneath FTL prussik and one hand on hand Ascender. and you are fully safe. You can descend by either having your Normal Double system on your FTL prussik with a Sling, you should put a stopper knot under ur FTL before you move on it. Or you can take Ascender off as u weight is in your FTL prussik and put in figure of 8 and descend on 8, whilst holding FTL prussik as back up. Or tie alpine butterfly clip bineer and pulley etc into that and your Normal system and descend and work off. This system opens you up to alot of new ways of working around a tree, as sometimes that is you anchor point. But remember be away of the forces involved, as it can be up to double the force of where the SRT line is running. i can put a pic up if you guys want? thousand words and all. that other system is way slower than SRT as it has x3 parts in the rope rather than Single Rope Technique. Think its called RAD's System. Cheers MOG

  20. haha awsome comments for and against is good to hear. @ rupe i am in Oz atm man.@ taupoman, i know what ur saying about getting up euc fast but i am more for throwline top tips and SRT up and also take branch off on the way up too. Sometimes i will even SRT up with my spikes on too. this is properly due to getting practice for the comps and enjoy it more. Works sometimes but both are very effective methods
  21. what a shame man, beautiful tree. would of been nice to get more straight long bits out of the wood atleast.
  22. haha nice man, you know bit of soft porn every now and then is good. all or nothing with you then Mark ay lol. yeah i fully agree on stem/chogging down you need them for sure. but for the whole rest of tree i was just getting at if theres a few people out there who does the same thing. as the guys at work, dont believe that i do all tree without them until stem thats all. cheers for the feed back, interesting to know. "walking boots" surely not:001_tt2:
  23. So since buying a pair of those fancey dancey scarpa boots (Owned for well over a year). Found spikes were a massive pain to wear. i have got Geko's spikes and they just slip way to far back to the heel. as in the scarpa's there is no arch in the foot, to keep metal part there. So i just dont bother until i have too. i.e logging down wood with no anchor point. i have found this be a very effective method and pretty much do all my takedowns with no spikes. Big or small, until i have to put them on. i have been working in Nz and Oz there are massive trees. So if you have spikes on you cant run around like you normally would. I think it makes you better at climbing as you have to relay on the placement of you feet more. anybody else do this same method? or i am just a spike hater? Cheers MOG
  24. "bah- she'd be right eh. Oopppss ...." how times have you heard that.
