  1. You really are superhuman mate:thumbup1: I dont think I could stand the responsibility. Although being able to delete obscenities at the touch of a button, is a mighty power to have. You should really have a cape, and some kind of superhero slogan as your signature. Although if you are going to be a superhero, you're gonna need a bigger bike:lol:
  2. Might want to get a still from the film arachnophobia too, just for good measure.
  3. Wish I got to moderate my own threads:001_rolleyes: Must be great being that important:laugh1:
  4. Got to agree with you there mate. If those silly little bits can drop the revs down like that then i reckon J-B is the way to go.
  5. For anyone who still thinks i'm a Rottweiler. A pic of one of our other dogs when she was a pup.
  6. I wouldn't have even twigged to be honest. Dont know anything about Makita saws. Wasn't till treequip mentioned it that I looked it up. Think we are right though, If you dont know about saws and chains, and are working on the floor, a top handle aint the best tool for the job is it.
  7. I'd imagine being a top handle it wont take bigger than a 12 or 14 inch bar anyway.
  8. Some people need a bit of blunt criticism mate. I've commented on some stuff on here that is just plain wrong. No if or buts, just wrong. Some people take it and think about it, and some just get stupid. I guess thats what a forum is all about. I put the original pic up for Ad as I gave him some stick about one of his cuts. He's a sound bloke and any banter between us is always good natured and always tongue in cheek. I put the climbing pics up as I found them while I was searching for embarrassing pics and thought you would all appreciate the 'pole saw up a tree, cos I didn't have the balls to go any higher'. The Birch is also a bit of a motivational pic for the boys on here who are starting to climb. When I did that tree, I had never worn spikes before (I bought them that morning), had never used a top handle 'in battle' and had never used a flip line either.
  9. The way the sites designed mate I dont think the search engines are going to like it very much.
  10. Morning Ian. Yeh I know, its all been very good natured hasn't it. I 'm obviously not as annoying as I thought:lol:
  11. You have been known to air an opinion or two yourself mate:thumbup1:
  12. Its not what you drive, its how you drive that counts. Some people would still have no class if they were driving an Aston
  13. Just a few pics to prove everyone starts somewhere mate:thumbup1: I'm a bit of a perfectionist, some would say fanatical, in pretty much everything I do. Its either perfect or its just plain wrong. But as I said, everyone starts somewhere, and i've done much worse cuts than your ones I was abusing yesterday. I'm not slow to criticise when I see something wrong so thought it only right to put a few of mine up:thumbup1:
  14. How is that relevant to this thread?
  15. Sorry mate. I have mentioned the language to member involved so i'm sure it wont happen again.
  16. As you are a newbie mate, just a quick reminder to watch the language. I'm not offended by it at all but it is part of the forum rules. Hope you dont mind me pointing it out.
  17. Looking at those pics of the Silver Birch I'm actually quite proud of myself. That was the first tree I ever look down that involved climbing. I had done cs38 and 39 but hadn't done 41 at that time:blushing:. I know I technically shouldn't have been doing it but in all the pics I can find i'm anchored on in two places, all the branches were cut off with nice neat cuts, and it came down safe and I got paid. For any of you currently learning to climb and may be struggling take note. I'm not the worlds greatest athlete, i'm 6 ft tall and about 10 stone so i'm not the strongest either. I had always worked in offices before I started tree work, to prove to myself I could. That Silver Birch was pretty big for the first time, and I was more than a little scared. But I got it down cos I decided I would, so wasn't going home till it was on the floor:thumbup1: I had never worked with any other tree surgeons either. The lads you see in the pics were my employees. I was the boss right from the start (rightly or wrongly). For me, doing a degree or running a business is much, much easier than anything manual, cos i'm naturally a thinker not a grafter. So for anyone wondering if they can be a good tree surgeon and climber, the answer is probably yes.
  18. Thanks mate:thumbup1:
  19. Another one I did. Notice the pole saw cos I didn't have the balls to go any higher. It was pretty high for my first ever dismantle though.
  20. Lanksmike, its not even me in the pic. Thats Dan, and he always looks like that. He's a sulky teenager:biggrin:
  21. One of my boys removing the evidence
  22. I cant use that excuse mate. Reckon I was early to mid 20's when I did that.
  23. Dont you start:lol: You must be able to tell from the picture that I didn't have much of an idea what I was doing. To be honest, I cant even remember why I cut it so high. It was one of the first trees I ever felled. I did get better, honest:blushing:
  24. It would have been a prime candidate for barber chair wouldn't it. There was a gob, a very nice one, shame it was wasted with such a rubbish back cut.
  25. We logged up the stem and ground out the stump so removing all evidence of such a shoddy cut. The tree didn't have much of a lean on it so just used normal felling cuts. May have forgotten we had it roped to the van, under tension:blushing:
