  1. In all seriousness if you wanted to give the idea a go with a partner who could deal with the business side of things while you concentrated on the theoretical and practical side I would be more than happy to give it a go. Equally if you wanted to give it a go on your own with a bit of guidance, that would be cool too.
  2. Hope i've cheered you up a bit mate, since you posted your unhappy thread earlier. A thought for you to ponder. If I didn't know you, I would have never of heard the phrase inclusional. If I had I wouldn't know what it was about. If I hadn't known about it, I wouldn't have twigged that it could have excellent commercial appeal to big business looking to increase their CSR. This idea is at least half yours mate. Degree or no degree.
  3. No need to be materialistic mate, with your passion to make a difference and do a good job, and the fact that these are the qualities potential clients would require, the money would be a natural bi-product. We obviously have very different interests but believe me, from my areas of expertise and interest, there is a huge buzz around corporations using environmental credentials to push their marketing differentiation. The largest buzz being around sustainability. What could be more sustainable than inclusionality.
  4. Tony, they say the best businesses are formed from people having a genuine passion for what they do, with profit being a bi-product of this. Confidence or not, you aint short of passion. Personally, I cant see you are going to achieve what you want to, working for someone else. I certainly will never be someone elses employee, mainly cos I value my own opinions too much:blushing: but you dont need me telling you that:lol: I know we have different values and to be honest you are probably a better man than me. However doing my own thing has paid for my house, my cars, my bikes and most recently my helicopter flying lessons. Being the boss, its all good:thumbup1:
  5. Think big mate. You will never make a difference being an arb consultant. Advising businesses how to incorporate inclusionality into their environmental programs, now thats a different matter. Have a think mate. If you want to look into it ill be more than happy to help. I do have some connections on the business and information side of things. You asked how I think you could make a career out of your knowledge and interests, this is it.
  6. I've already given you a cracking idea on the cv thread. Inclusional corporate environmental responsibility. Its the future. ( Might have to work on a slightly more catchy title though)
  7. Free???? Have I taught you nothing?
  8. Its all in the Marketing, stick with me mate. Dont sell yourself short mate. With your passion, enthusiasm and unfailing commitment to your beliefs, you are better than you think. As far as being taken seriously, do a few survey/ advisory jobs for charities and other such causes and you gain credibility. Who needs qualifications when you've got a Tony. There are no legal requirements when it comes to calling yourself a corporate responsibility consultant, just like calling yourself a marketing consultant. All I do is make sure everyone knows i'm better than everyone else. I can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of people who have even asked me to prove my quals.
  9. Are there any ecological groups or less mainstream companies about that may appreciate your knowledge and skills mate. Seems to me that LA or mainstream consultant positions may require quals you dont have where as some who may be more focused on ecology etc may love to have you on board. Right, back to arbclimber the marketing man. How about setting up a company that advises big business about such things as corporate and social responsibility. This really is the 'buzz phrase' in big business at the moment. Any company causing any impact on the environment, specifically trees and such like, will be crying out for knowledge and ideas such as yours. A major concern for big business at present is their perceived environmental credentials. This is an area I know a good deal about. Could even be an area that you could actually 'make a difference'.
  10. Ill pm you an e-mail address. Wont be any criticism for the sake of it though mate. Genuinely trying to help.
  11. If you want to pm it to me i'd be more than happy to give you my honest opinion. Or maybe e-mail would be better. let me know mate
  12. Make enough to pay the bills then whatever he likes after that.
  13. Hama's in the position where his car insurance has been cancelled and he has missed mortgage payments. Thats no time for be thinking about hobbies, its time to concentrate on paying the bills.
  14. True intelligence is no good to anyone without loads of other personal attributes. If you think you are an intelligent man but you are working as hard as you can, and getting nowhere, i'd suggest you are doing the wrong things. You can have the greatest mind in the world, but if you cant sell your skills to anyone, you will never make any money. I know you claim to be non-financially motivated, and I believe you. Time comes though when you need be realistic and realise you need a decent amount of money to survive in the modern world. I know you spend a lot of time pondering the Alan Rayner ideas, photographing fungi and such like. While its interesting it doesn't really have any commercial value. Maybe put your 'hobbies' on the back burner for a while and concentrate on purely making money.
  15. You know what I mean though.
  16. More working in a job which requires intelligence and qualifications as well as doing a job which is more 'practical skills' based.
  17. Why does it always seem to turn into the uneducated slating the educated and the educated slating the uneducated. Anyone who hasn't or isn't capable of achieving the level of education I have is not automatically a more exciting person than me you know. I have proved I can work on both sides of the fence.
  18. Got one thing right mate, you are a tool. Wouldn't worry about the likes of Asplen, the guy sent me a friend request, I looked at his posts and thought yeh, he seems alright, so added him. We exchanged a few pm's about the general level of education and literacy on here, as thats one of 'my things' as you know. Anyway, took no time at all to realise I had made a mistake so deleted him as a friend. The bloke had only sent the request cos he wanted marketing advice. Not cool:thumbdown: As far as education goes, whats the point of CPD if you haven't got the qualifications that the CPD is supposed to back up? CPD isn't worth anything academically, unless it is used to back up a formal qualification. Ill seriously have a think before I post anything else mate. Ill have a good think about what i'd do if I were you, and get back to you. Chin up bud:thumbup1:
  19. If I were you i'd get a site made that the search engines can rank. For a kind of online brochure that you can tell people about it is ok, but i'd sort it so people searching for tree surgeons in your area will find it. Worst thing about it is that its done as one big image rather than smaller tagged images inserted into a properly coded site.
  20. Knew you'd turn up sooner or later mate. Daft, where did that come from. You cant just go making up your own insults you know:laugh1:
  21. Exactly, they will be used to tell you how high you can go without risk of it arcing across to you.
  22. I may be grumpy but i aint daft. I dont think you lot need any more encouragement to tell me a blow up chair is better than my sofa.
  23. It does look like a damn useful machine.
  24. Talking about on track, hows your beastie new chipper?
