  1. Good question, im guessing that theres a different carb, plus lack of air injection on the non xp 365. But what comprises the air injection system? As far as i know its just a crude kind of turbo charging, the shape of the fins on the flywheel and the small spout upto the air filter which helps clear more dirt out and forces air into the carb ? We need some clarity on this ! :-)
  2. The 365 is virtually the same saw as the old 362 xp special, minus the xp gubbins.
  3. Peter Irving at Hutton roof would be worth a try Chris, not too far from York
  4. Those massive stacks are in Sweden after the big windblow a few years ago, watering the wood helps to limit the scots pine logs getting blue stain and helps keep the wood fresher. I heard there was about 1 million cube stacked up on that airstrip
  5. Harvester output is greatly affected by heavily branched trees, how many sizes you are cutting ( the fewer the better ), how much small stuff needs chopping up, suckers/doubles, how dense the stand is. In nice big clean thinned pine down south, a good driver cutting say 2 or 3 log lengths, pallet and chip should easy be blasting 200m3 a day on a decent machine.
  6. How about trying a few CCTV in operation signs in the stacking area and seeing if that deters anyone? I saw a wagon load a guy had bought nearby, to prevent theft he had fencing stapled a load of old barbed wire over the stack, none of it went missing !
  7. Nice one, been all over the place but nowhere comes close to the lakes its hard to beat :-) Im from south Cumbria, live down near Barrow

  8. Working in Northumberland at the moment pal. Oh aye, where abouts in the lakes did you live?

  9. Thanks for the replies chaps Ill try both suggestions and see how i get on.
  10. Now then chaps i have a problem which i was hoping someone may be able to advise me on. My 262 xp wont idle properly, most of the time if i rev the saw upto half throttle then let go of the trigger i get a fast idle with the chain spinning quite fast, then if i rev the saw flat out then let go of the throttle the saw dies. But occasionally the saw will return to a normal idle. The saw is set to its factory settings of 1 and 1. Im thinking perhaps carb diaphrams ? Any help is much appreciated !
  11. I couldnt see a problem with selling by the builders dumpy type bag, as long as there were industry standard sized bags with the solid load volume marked on perhaps by the manufacturer? I have seen in europe that a popular method is metre long split billets banded up into cubic metre bundles and delivered that way. I quite like the idea and reckon a few of my customers would like them, cut them into whatever lengths they like.
  12. Wait for the Husqvarna 562xp to come out ?
  13. Our orange broadband works well, but at least twice a year for the past 3 years it conks out and i have to spend half an hour on the phone to India to fix it, same with you?
  14. Xpg is same as xp but with heated handles, trio brake is a chainbrake thats also on the rear handle
  15. These new huskies sound quite interesting though not yet available in the uk....... A World Leader in Chain Saws Just Got Better
  16. I have to agree with hardwood logger, 357 with 15" bar, definitely get heated handle and i would only consider a Stihl if it was a damn sight cheaper than the Husqvarna equivalent. My 346 with 13" is a bit underpowered in dense stuff like beech/oak up to guide bar length diameter. Brilliant if cutting smaller diameter softwoods or softer hardwoods like ash/birch/sycamore though. My 346 is twice the saw of my ms260. Hope this helps !
  17. Interesting, what is the advantage of PTO versus hydraulics? Only if you have an older less powerfull tractor with slow hydraulics? The hydraulic splitters i have seen have been on newish 100 hp tractors and seem to work fine on just over tickover, where as a pto driven one will have the tractor sat there braying away using more diesel will it not?
  18. Now i thought that bark side up would be the best way, though a wood cutter friend noticed whilst in Europe particularly that all the firewood was stacked bark to the bottom. Perhaps the moisture can evaporate from the wood easier that way? Any thoughts?
  19. Wetekom Moisture Measuring Device 0-60% from Westfalia at our Measuring and testing inside the Electronics shop I got myself one of these, seems to work alright
  20. As the title suggests, i am after a tank unit for my 362. New ones are about £80 which seems a bit steep , so if anyone has a dead 362/365 with a decent tank with no splits or cracks then please get in touch.
  21. How long do you need to season the Sitka for? I have a load to cut , luckily some is dead and solid ! Sycamore is my current fave, though ive burnt the bloody lot cos its that good !
  22. These trailers look like real handy bits of kit, whats the max length they can take and what sort of weight can you get on there?
  23. Hammer in fencing staples or 2" lost head nails so they are protruding 5ish mm, in criss cross patterns 3" or so apart depending on how the bridge is decked. Cheaper than buying mesh and v effective.
