  1. write it like ye say it man........... i thought they may have been, only as ive never seen locally b4. pity, spose ye cud where a pair of lead trousers if it gets the job done quicker ! naw seriously, the yon thing looks like it could shake the life out of a strimmer alright, HAVS etc thats why ive posted this, just te find out whats cooking (!!)
  2. I just got this from my very very regular earborist email. Just wondering has anyone hd go at them yet? Looks like ye could get bit of excessive wear at the wee hub where the bldes are attached. Follow this - NEW Other, NEW EUROTEK RANGER/ARTIGLIO/MASTER - CATEGORY: CUTTING HEADS offered for sale £49 It looks a hndy yoke.
  3. mad craic this chain chat...................chain, bar, sporcket, chain pieces the lot, i absltly agree very important in our trade. if you dont know, defo do as yer man does - fire a loock of manuals beside the bog seat and dont waste precious time ! On a brighter note, not that long ago, may be 10-12 yrs ago, in a place called scandanavia (nice), research proved that yer saw pants = pile cushion when using chains sharpened at acute angles ie this craic or the way mickeys garden machinery repairs (using the grinder type yoke unknowingly or with out edumacation). Alledgedly the acuteness of angle slices the kevlar (or whatever else) threading rather than chian sharpened by round file whereby the result of this type of filing ensures the curved side plate cutting edge draggs at the kevlar (r whatever) threads. food for yousens. but tis only a bit of info on this near dead thread
  4. it is hard to justify refresher courses. however, it is keeping on top of it. to pick up a tiny bit of info on a refresher be it from cs30 is keeping it professional and one step ahead of the posse. Obviously there is are situations which may make it seem stupid ie 4th year of 31 and one is to undertake and pass 32. So does one refreshe 31 the following year? BUT there is going to be a point when all ye rookies have spent out yer 5yrs and it is time to refresh. On a personal note im selfemployed. 30/31 out by 2yrs but it has been niggling the inside of my right arse cheek for that duration to get refreshed. the fact that i progressively got 32,33,34,38,39 in the subsequent years did make it out as if i dont really have to as i covered it all with these. Hoowever, it is a requirement to stay fresh. and for the value of feeling fresh im going for it. now the assessment isnt going to make me feel any fresher but it makes the license feel fresher and puts all ye in the same boat as me out ahead of the rest. its somehting similar to C.P.D. but on a cheaper scale!
  5. yep. 120 flat load of hwd trnny tipper up to metal sides. m3 BAG 50. NW of NI.
  6. usually a good idea if its really required to do so. A few questions though, what species is it, what kinda soil, is it growing on a flat open area or on a bank. is the soil been compacted by human traffic, animal traffic or vehicular. Is the tree not well, is the soil not well, is there grass growing around the tree, etc. if you're looking to simply imprve the area around a tree. always do so to te dripline i believe. try not to be intrusive to the rooting area if there is no real imediate eed to. Mulch works provding it has been composted therefore not stealing to much N from the soil. Also, try and find mulch from tree nuts, usually older stuff as there is bound to be a cart load of worms and various other biota tearing around in it.
  7. man are you retired or something? I green to this internet tree thing. but tryig to get the time to both peeka nd get the pict's etc for adding, even the thinkggin of what im going to begin thread that is........geeeeeeeeeeee's i dunno. do u sleep?
  8. aye well, in my way a doing things, i kind set the blarney questionires to the side. On every job, yep every job other than subing, i will prepare a full spec method state. For one, i dont advertise - solely word of mouth. for 2, the requestee knows i can undetake the work, for 3 i dont care. they get a full spec ms detailing all movements on each day of the works oon their site. if you are becoming an 'approved contractor' then that i suppose is when you would rovide a generic ms, h&s policy and all that. it is at this point where the generic ms is relatively bull bcus.......a method statement shuld detail how the specific works are to take place. now each job is in nature certainly different we al kno that, however, very little wording would change on each specific ms. soo, in my opinion, i believe a quality ms for each job, in our hairy trade, is a clea sign of knowledge therefore professionalism. mmmm
  9. Certainly the only if not the best answer to the debating question. Method statement is a clear sign of professionalism. Keep a generic set on file and change to suit the particular works. Obviously the bits to keep are '....arrive on site, inspect, perform RA, brief groundsfolk, allocate equip-mchiine-RA-H&S Policy locations, blah de blah blah blah....' and so on. In respect to questionaires, I'd prefer to send my own formats. as er man says a quote with MS and one without. yeeah. Remember, not everyone knows the exact procedures of tree work.......boggle them
  10. aw aye man ask him, beg, bribe barter get it baaaack. Shes a dancer, no warm up at all - straight inte bagdad blowing the sheite out a everyting. Naw, seriously, get it back. a wee service and you'll be bast a friends again. i got mine 4/5 yrs ago. 130 ebay. rockon on robin. i darnt say it but i will...........soapy water for the airfliter very now and again and mayb just maybe a wee spark as a treat around christmas. as a matter of fact i try nat to touch her at all other than blowing sheite up. cudnt beat that wey a big stick. jeees its l8.
  11. jeeess is that the time.........
  12. Take handle apart....hehehehehe, classs, prob a wee shoeclip. Better again trade that biatch in for SH85 if you can find wan 86 is grand but get a big pipe. mmmmm blowe the knicker aff ye, bg wee girls toy !!!
  13. beautiful work. great. do you need another license? How far does my pl cover? for a start, omg. cheap as chips. ye must be earning butter tokens. sort your PL out. do as yer mn says AT THE START, get wan pl and el insurance. 1 man employer 1 man self-employed subbie. Rockon cheaper. well, if you add two 600's = 1200, considering your on a wile cheap cover, your pl and el would or may be considerably cheaper. mine is a whopper on the same principle, however, i have 32 plus a ween more. anyway, obviously if yer insurer is a industry recognised wan then they have requested, ticket copies, past employer ref. and proof of industry experience - if theyre nat then you're on a wing as yer cover is probable a bit dodgy anyway. personally, and i can remember one certain instructor saying wan time to go a fell a couple a hundred trees b4 applying ffor ticket. 31 that is. build oon expereince and progress. So get yer 32 for progression not for yer insurance as i said, yer on a winger ther boy. keep er lit.
  14. Ye want to go to a builder te see if the wall is in good fettle. if it isnt, jeees, id hve a few worries about the integrity of these trees.
