  1. This isn't about levelling any playing fields etc it's all about increasing govt revenues. Plain and simple. Look at one of the main rationales: Part of the rationale of scapping the rebate is that if red diesel users are paying so little for their fuel, there is little financial incentive for them to switch to cleaner technologies. Please show my the alternative? The petrol/lpg/battery excavators, tractors, combines and so on. They don't exist. Why hammer the users, why not incentives the manufacturers to produce a cleaner alternative.
  2. This is what I have on my 260. Remote control for the feed rollers. Doesn't control the rotate or angle for the chute (which would be ace) but its still really handy.
  3. This makes sense. Same as VAT, a reclaim system.
  4. Ive been reading about the potential for doing away with lower duty rate diesel. Under the guise of the environment but I'm a cynic. I'm not sure it'll be the hardest hit for the arb industry but it'll still be costs up/returns down.
  5. That's a good point. I did know that from a trip to Belgium last year but completely overlooked it.
  6. True. Its not necessarily what you buy it for, its what you sell it for!
  7. I'm looking everywhere! Old tractors seem to hold there money ridiculously. So I thought buy something newer and hold onto it. I have been looking online at tractors in France & Germany. Seem to be well priced. Deutz Agrotron 150 is on the list. Same Silver 130 but not many about.
  8. I'm considering a 120-170hp tractor for running the chipper (farmi 260) and a bit of trailer work. I like simple! Looked at a Massey 7480 dyna VT which was a dream to drive (compared to my Same 86 manual box) but the fear of stuff that could go wrong with a complicated gear box got the better of me! I'm thinking up 2005 onwards. 40 or 50k trans, air brakes. Relatively straight forward mechanically. Zetor HSX 140? Any thoughts?
  9. I have got a service manual (and I'm capable of a bit of spannering) but sometimes jobs are beyond my skills and I risk making things worse!
  10. Anyone know of any mobile tractor mechanics that cover middlesex (or area formerly know as). I dont have any problems with the tractor, trailer, etc just tryong get someone for future work.
  11. Love the duals. Is it a custom bracket to fit them or can you get it from SDF?
  12. I had a exeter retort for a couple of years when I made charcoal. If you have a strong market and very low life costs then you might be ok but I found its an incredibly hard to make any return.
  13. Sorry, I have no idea why I wrote MEWP in the title, must have been thinking about two things at once (dangerous!). Nothing to do with a MEWP, its was just about a tractor! Cheers for the replies.
  14. Can you tow an Ifor type trailer behind an agricultural tractor? For agricultural/forestry activities. Legally not physically is my question.
  15. Well that's sh*t and very sobering. I remember reading about David Shepherd of Theocus arb and thinking the same. Gives you a bit of perspective when stressing about comparatively trivial things.
  16. Amazing set up and all the extras you'd want. Do you know what he's asking for it? I've messaged but a lot of people are off till Monday.
  17. Yes. I'm C1+E, operators license and tacho.
  18. I'm sure I've seen one with a boat on it as well. Was a while back though.
  19. Do you have a link back? I have searched but cant seem to find it. I have seen fifth wheel set ups on pickups (for motorhomes) but these are usually 4t ish trailers with 500-1000kg of the weight on the nose (taking the pickups payload). I wonder if you can run a 7.5t, using its 3t payload and its 4.5t towing capacity? Basically being able to tow a 5t excavator to site with that combo.
  20. I wondered if it was a European thing to cover vehicles like this? 3t tow vehicle and a 9t trailer/load combo. These 'mini artics' would be great in urban environments. Not sure if they are legal in the UK though.
  21. +e is the trailer element. The bit I don't quite get (I understand what it means) is the MAM of 12t meaning a 7.5t vehicle pulling a 4.5t trailer. Is there such a thing as a 4.5t trailer? I've only ever seen the usual ifor type 3.5t then its proper drawbar trailers 12t upwards. Doesnt seem to be anything in between?
  22. It may well be. It would be worth double checking mate. I'm sure many on here know.... Medium-sized vehicles Category C1 You can drive vehicles between 3,500 and 7,500kg MAM (with a trailer up to 750kg). Category C1E You can drive C1 category vehicles with a trailer over 750kg. The combined MAM of both cannot exceed 12,000kg.
  23. Are you asking me? I've not got it yet. So far I've been to Isuzu and Iveco main dealers. They have quite a lot of new or year old stock. My issue (not unique but lesser common) is the LEZ and ULEZ in London. It basically means it has to be Euro6 onwards.
