  1. New attachment for the Same. It's an old McConnel but in pretty good shape. Just a dodgy switch to replace when I bought it.
  2. Good work. How have you been getting on well with the flail? Is it on knives (same as my side shift) or hammers?
  3. The newest attachment to the line up! Digga 1200mm trencher. Got a great deal of an ex demo model that had already had a custom Avant bracket built for it. I just swapped the avant coupling for flat faces (need to shorten the hoses at some point though). I've got 4 jobs over the next 6 weeks for it so I'll get some pictures of it in action.
  4. I think you might be right there Kevin. Some tools suit the MO perfectly, some don't. That said it could come in handy sometimes. There is an Avant version going cheap on EBay at the moment.
  5. Pricey but would something like this do it? http://hydrau-supply.co.uk/epages/1b68bed2-0a5e-4016-bbdd-86f19d8c89b2.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/1b68bed2-0a5e-4016-bbdd-86f19d8c89b2/Products/515 75 litres a minute. 15hp. You could just get a 3pt linkage adaptor for the loader. EDIT - Sorry, I re-read it and you said mower deck, i was think of rear pto finishing mower/topper. I think something like that would work though - 15-30hp, up to 75 litres a minute flow. There is an avant mower deck for sale on ebay at the moment. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ex-demo-Avant-loader-lawn-mower-attachment-1200mm-1999-vat/382459952785?hash=item590c63be91:g:QU4AAOSwkcBa1KG2
  6. I hadn't spotted that either. How much force would it take to do that! He must have been racing along.
  7. I was working on a site a few years ago. It was in zone 3 near Ealing Broadway and there was large scaffolding at the rear of the buildings. There was standard debris netting running up all 7 storeys. In strong wind the netting ripped away and partially landed on the embankment directly behind the building. The embankment was on the District tube line and the netting was tangled in trees a few metres from the tracks. Loads of bods appeared from TFL and they conclusion was if the rest of the netting came down they would close the line for several hours to clear it (around 4pm in the afternoon on a weekday). They suggested the fine would be £5-8 million for closing a major London tube line during the day!
  8. Agreed. You have to be pretty foolish to not measure your load and look out for these things. It's of course a can of worms but high profile cases (not this one) can draw attention to this area and one brush can tarnish us all. Being purely subjective you can say: You can take a 17 old kid who's only ever driven a Vauxhall Corsa. Put him in a tractor that doesn't receive any independent safety testing, attach a trailer which again is not independently tested for safety. Stick a 15t excavator on the back and off he goes. Plus he could drive 20 hours a day 7 days a week. Compared to HGV use for moving the same kit it looks pretty haphazard.
  9. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/road-railway-powys-tractor-bridge-14582937 Excavator wouldn't fit under the bridge. Seems like no one was injured luckily. Everytime I see these I wonder what the implications maybe for carrying plant with agri machinery will be.
  10. Auger out today. Augertorque x2500 with 450mm flight.
  11. It is in the same place where the 4wd should be. Is it illuminated on the dash so perhaps indicating I'm in 4wd. I just don't understand why the symbol is different.
  12. Any ideas what this button on my tractor is? It's not in the manual! Same Dorado 86. 4wd. I don't have a front PTO or linkage. It does illuminate the same symbol on the dash.
  13. Saw this, appreciate it is an IE article but it's pertains to an EU directive that is seemingly approaching. Will impact on fastrac and unimog users. https://m.independent.ie/business/farming/machinery/minister-confirms-nct-test-required-for-fast-tractors-used-for-nonagricultural-work-36809874.html
  14. A little Saturday morning job on old faithful. 2005 L200. Been hearing the odd knock and found the rear shackle bushes looking pretty warn so switch them out. As you'd expect on a 13 year old truck it was all corroded and took so encouragement to get out! Got greasable ones from Milner for £13. As repairs go this is refreshingly good value!
  15. Agreed. I always thought ally planks and stokboard should be more widely available. If you do build you own body have a look at monobolt rivets. Really strong and ideal for this kind of work.
  16. Got a new flight for the auger. 150mm tungsten tip. Have it out tomorrow hopefully.
  17. I think it was about £40 for a 3200mm x 400mm plank. They are still pretty hefty. Must be about 15-18kg for those. They look smart though and age really well in my opinion though.
  18. Yes. There are probably better or tidier ways of doing it but I was doing it all myself. I kept it all square and simple. Lots of rivets and some big nuts and bolts.
  19. Didn't take many pics annoyingly. I basically just made sides from the alloy dropsides with alloy channel sections (secured with rivets). then bolts to the steel. Good thing is I can unbolt it in 40 minutes or so. This was a small one. 800mm.
  20. I painted the steel with hammerite which seems to have worked well.
  21. Is it business to domestic (individuals) only? It doesn't seem to to cover business to business.
  22. I found it a bit bewildering when I first did mine but you can ring up a have a chat about it. I ending up buying the alloy dropsides as I liked the little lips they have on them for support. I have never tig welded so I built a still frame and used bolts and rivets to secure the alloy sides.
  23. They do a catalogue and the do bespoke shutters as well. http://www.servicemetals.co.uk/downloads/
  24. I have used services metals several times and it was quick and the lengths were pretty accurate to what I asked for. I think my closest depot was Essex.
  25. ex hire is hit and miss in my opinion. it might have been well looked after or might have been pressure washed and sent straight back out. There is a risk that when a company knows they will only keep a set number of years then there is less incentive to keep it tip top. Same as anything I guess.
