  1. There's quite a few doing these heads now in various forms, some with accumulating arms to gather more small stuff together. Intermercato, Mechanil, and Biojack are a few. I agree on the Bandit, I had a real good look at the Confor show and I really liked what I saw. I've been looking at a demount setup to go on the Tracked Dumper, but something like this towed version perhaps with bandtracks for wetter sites would be well for a look for me. Eddie.
  2. I've been looking at ways of fitting a Bandit Chipper on the Tracked Dumper Forwarder to follow up after the machine, but I really had to go for a lie down when I saw this setup!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MqPl0q-2gU]1590XP Bandit Greenteeth - YouTube[/ame] Eddie.
  3. When I had the Valtra N101 on hire I used to take it directly to the local fuel supplier and fill up off the red pump there which focused the mind! Working it out, the Valtra which was exceptional on fuel, worked out on lightish duties pretty much the same as running my TDCi Defender and Ifor Williams tipper locally? Obviously the Defender does more to the gallon but the high price of white diesel is the levelling factor. I have found the Valtra's to be very good on fuel apart from the N163 which liked a drop, with the Direct transmission. Eddie.
  4. Interesting job by the sounds of it, but just an odd concern? If the Mog is towing a chipper capable of 24" (min) and you're using it to any sort of efficiency, it'll surely not take long to fill the chip box?? I hope we get some pictures? Eddie.
  5. Andrew at Excac-one really has got these shears sorted now with the Kinshoffer rotator on them. That's a great setup there. I've hopefully got the Intermercato Tiger Cut coming later this week, and this should be the first with the 10" knife in? I have opted for the Tiger Cut as it does grip what it's cutting, plus it's lighter to go under the Engcon Tiltrotator, but I won't hesitate to switch to the Exac-one unit if it doesn't perform as well. Shears really have taken off this year, and I know they've been selling in some volumes? Eddie.
  6. Just dealing with a couple from the storms on the way out from a site we've been on and off for a couple of years. Not really my thing, but no issues for the Kubota and winch, plus we managed to get everything back tidy on the verges. Eddie.
  7. You'll have to pm me a link if at all possible. Thanks Eddie.
  8. Certainly not a daft question, and if money was no object plus I did a huge percentage of mulching then a complete separate powerpack on the machine is the way to go. Ideally 100hp with all the pumps and cooling to match would really make it fly! This is about as good as it can get on this machine utilising the standard hydraulics, and in Rhodies, which it does a lot of, it goes very well. Eddie.
  9. I just got my latest FAE Mulching Head for the 8 tonne machine today. It's had a host of modifications based on previous experience, plus the addition of a walking leg to help the machine get about on tricky going and it also enables me to move material about or flick out the roots and mulch them. I'm really pleased with the result, and it'll get a proper workout next week. Eddie.
  10. Catch me if you can!!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRfcgKbzWNo]V12 Massey Ferguson Lyngdal Norway winter - YouTube[/ame] Eddie.
  11. From another Forum, but this is a lovely Volvo machine with a really heavy duty undercarriage fitted. The Shear is making light work of this job! It's either misty or the lens needed a clean! 12. I think they may have changed the company name recently, but SP Holding moved into the event type market and have them available for hire. Probably JCB Groundhogs if that makes a difference? Buggies, Plant & Event Hire - S. P. Holding Eddie.
  13. Yes, close enough though! Thankfully he delivered it personally at 8.00am on the morning of the demo. It all went well and hopefully a new Mulcher development this week if all goes to plan. Eddie.
  14. No problem, it was a fair turnout and I think you do a great job on the talks. It's not easy and certainly not something everyone can do. Parsnip soup was lovely too! Edie.
  15. It's going up this week when the new toy arrives!!
  16. Just a pic of the 8 tonne Kubota with FAE Mulcher waiting to do a demo at a local woodland event today, nice to get a few minutes to clean her up a bit. Some reasonably easy going for a change! Eddie.
  17. How Lucky!!! That must end up as some sort of training video? He simply wants clubbing over the head with that saw, you'd have no worries holding it by the bar as you did it, as there was no danger it would cut you! Eddie.
  18. No worries it'll just be the service light for 50hrs, it won't usually be a full service at 50, just the final drive oil is usually changed at this point. I'd call the hire company out of courtesy to cover yourself, and you'll be fine to go over the hours a little. Eddie.
  19. Thanks Stephen, when the client gives you credit enough to provide you whatever materials you ask and never chases at all, it's nice to try and do justice to them. Here's the view down, the lower deck is cantilevered approx 4" above the water so looks cool with no supports. The posts were drilled and some nice thick rope through them to finish off. I actually did the whole pool from scratch here too. Some place! Eddie.
  20. To be honest we only did labour only for this Client. He was happy to source his own materials, doing some pretty sharp deals with suppliers we recommended to him. It was a lovely job to do with a blank sheet of paper, he knew roughly what he wanted and we did the rest. We've done loads of this sort of stuff for him and I love parking up for a week or two and getting stuck into this sort of work. A few bits at the same place. Eddie.
  21. Some great stores on here, this is one we built for a client. Just a straightforward build, but done to last and wish I had it myself! Eddie.
  22. What would be the current market price for seasoned softwood, in say 10" processed logs, buying in this way? Obviously transport is the issue but what's the price range per cube for a nice product? Eddie.
  23. Don't get worrying about the Blade ram, it will lift a lot more than you really want to be exerting down on your idlers long term anyway? The point was to move a bit of kit about with you not use it for shifting spoil anyway which is a different application all together in my opinion, better suited to the Digga Bara. However being kind, there is another solution? It's a halfway house affair between the two, used on Bobcat machines, but once you've seen it you'll see where I'm coming from? You obviously won't be able to tip it (that could be incorporated no real issues) but as you will see you could have a mounting you simply hooked up with the blade and this baby will travel with you sharing a bit of the work? A reasonable fabricator and a scour on e bay for the tyres should have this well under a Digga Bara cost? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTc-P03VK1s]Bobcat Dumping Hopper Attachment - YouTube[/ame] Eddie.
  24. These Mini Rubber Ducks have the problem of no front bucket to carry equipment to site in comparison to a Backhoe loader. This gives some idea what's easily possible? Eddie.
  25. I don't know about that Stephen, but what I will tell you is don't weld anything to the blade you'll forever keep catching it? Simply make a pocket in the blade you can slip your hitch mounting through with a pin to retain it on the back. Many options on doing this (box section, flat bar etc) but the worst case scenario is then a bit of mud you may have to clean out of the mounting hole before fitting the hitch. With regard to towing things about, I think it's a simple case of horses for courses? If you're off down the woods don't expect you've just come up with a solution to put a forwarder out of work, but for example if you were simply digging topsoil out of your Bara along a driveway to topsoil behind some kerbs it would quickly become your best friend? When I visited the Maskin Expo in Sweden trailers were extremely popular for mini excavators and them boys don't mess about! Forget hydraulic tip, they use a loop of wire rope to grab with the excavator to tip (remember they pretty much all have a tiltrotator with integral grab to do this with) , the hydraulic flow from the blade is piped through to power the steering drawbar setup!! Eddie.
