  1. Rob, im done with it all mate, Tony's post was the last strraw in a big bale thats just made me realise it is all just a big old waste of my time. I used to go fishing, I had a life, then I got serious about arb and put in the effort. My body aches, my peers are laughing at me and I am bored and tired. Going to see about a roofing job and dust off the old carp rods, this is my last season on the circuit, I swore if I didnt make it by 40 I would quit before I ruined my body. well I havent made it and my body is on the brink (arms/joints/tendons) so nah, F it:thumbup:
  2. ha ha, getting plenty of kraken fury lately! Tony, get your head out of the elitest darwinian logic your so consumed by and I will do as you ask and look outside my library. Nature is full of diverse relationships and not all are based on dog eat dog and survival of the fittest, diversification is not driven by the elitest darwinian model, that narrows the field. it doesnt matter anyways, i am on the point of leaving this all alone and minding my own business, theres a carplake down the road with my name on a few bigguns and Ive spent way too much time banging heads.
  3. If I had known I would have, gutted, thats my old firm would have been pretty cool to see some old faces
  4. You post as many as you like, thats what this threads for. that was a pretty cool tree and suspect your thoughts are acurate. Really nice shape too, very high quality job:thumbup1:
  5. lovely example:001_cool:
  6. would you say the high water table here has had a contributory effect on the health of the tree, ability of the tree to adapt and defend against the decays?
  7. shocking. so manafacturers, are we paying for merely ticking the HSE boxes? me thinks so
  8. going by the fact these Olive clones have done this once already, we can safely assume as the clones grow they will do it again, and again. and whos to say the grove isnt made up entirely of such clones? be interesting to find out how many are genetically identifiable wouldn't it.
  9. Coming from you thats so insulting! Sorry mate, no can do. Thanks silky, that was the idea:thumbup1: Just a little something to discuss and consider:biggrin:

  13. nothing untoward really, to be honest I was in this location for its many fine veteran ash one failed with perenniporia 2 years ago so was back to see progress, others very nice examples of hispidus colonisation, will link a video in later:thumbup1:
  14. oh ben, that little darlin daughter of yours face on seeing a rocking horse made from that would have been pricless, bad ben bad bad ben:lol: it better be a mega wendy house or youll burn:laugh1:
  15. what and spoil my fun? cos you cant tell me what is going to happen to THIS chestnut if it gets unaccustomed wind exposure from right of image (even making it easy)
  16. I would not be so quick to reduce a red Oak, not in the U>K anyways, they are very prone to cambium die back and armillaria which is a prevalent weakness parasite here. in the states who knows? not saying dadio wrong in reducing it, not my place to say, im in the u.k where this tree is not native, a very different situation to home territory/native scenario as it is for dadio
  17. ha ha ha, you better join deans "abused by pensioners club" ha ha ha
  18. ha ha ha, its a good job I like you stephen! even though your a melon twister
  19. I will bear that in mind, I thought it was seven species of Daldinia? seems 14! Leaving Facebook... | Facebook 75.Fournier-and-M.-Stadler-0001.doc
  20. Gerrit, you can cleary see these clones are shoots from the root crown, the decayed undersides and shapes of the hollow crowns in the clones show cleary the root profiles of the origional tree, and it was massive, the old trunk is no more certainly but this is still a tree one tree of many leads though probably separating in tim and becoming individuals. When is a tree no more, when does a tree cease to be original? I dont think its quite so black and white.
  21. ha ha ha, your a P taking skinny little northern monkey you are:lol: Want to tell me why in particular this chestnut is prone to such an issue as exposure? smart arse:001_rolleyes:
