  1. Just got in, early finish, looking forward to a nice weekend of rugby on the box, might have done something as strenuous as take the dog for a walk or look for the hydraulic leak on my forwarder. Then, in the last 10 minutes, I have three loads of wood to deliver, one load to deliver this afternoon and the farmer where I rent my yard wants some work doing so's the scrappy can get in with a hiab to lift out an old generator, he's coming Monday first thing. Brilliant a!
  2. O how dare you sir, how very dare you, casting a slur upon the good name of us horsey types
  3. Another 30yrs and you'll be just that
  4. My experience yesterday, filled saw 5 times, 4 times no problem, last time an absolute sod, took me at least 8 or 9 nine attempts to get it to lock. I agree with what Timber Cutter Dartmoor said, you don't want to be piddling about with them, especially when it's cold, and wet, there is a flaw with the oil filler cap.
  5. But for the grace of God go us all. Very sorry to hear that.
  6. That stallion looks as cool as a cucumber though, considering he's just been turned upside down and bodyslammed to the floor, his temperment is brilliant, would buy that horse in a flash if it was over here
  7. Don't do this to me boys, i wanna come home
  8. There was an all singing and dancing biomass plant supposed to start up near us, the bulk of it was paid for, as far as I know, by public money, it's gone bust, it was supposed to burn miscanthus but i'm told they struggled to get it to burn properley, I don't know if that was due to moisture levels or what, they had to buy in chip. One local farmer near me put 1000 acres, just about his whole farm, down to miscanthus, talk about putting all your eggs in one basket, he is in a pretty perilous financial situation now, and I bet he wishe's he never heard of biomass, they tell me he's trying to turn the miscanthus into "bricquets" to sell as an alternative to firewood. Can't help wishing it goes pear shaped as well.
  9. Mawnan Smith is a good place to start from, lovely walks from there through the woods down to the coast, brings back some lovely memories.
  10. I wish Monty Don would hire me on a day rate to pull one tree out,
  11. Bugger, you've sussed me out
  12. I sometimes go to watch them, I love the language, " ooh, you dirty bitch", usualy followed by a slap!
  13. Only saw the second half of ireland v italy, our local rugby team play about 20 levels below international standard, but it would be better entertainment then what they served up, in fact the local ladies side would produce more entertainment
  14. England 30 - 15 Wales Oh dear, what a pity, never mind
  15. It could when you kept the bleddy yard tidy and did'nt leave headstones lying all over the place
  16. What you could do is empty the shot from the cartridge, refill with wheat, and point towards a sheet of galvanise, that tends to make 'em stain their pants.
  17. Oil cap is fine on my 361, but bought a new 181 for hedgelaying and have had the problems that you boys seem to have, I thought it was just a one off, but apparently not.
  18. You could'nt brake it on a downhill run, I'm told that the pic was probably as much too show the skills of the loading men and that it would probably ONLY usually be loaded to the top of the bunk uprights, there was just a lot of skill involved all round from the loading, the driving and even preparing the road to make it level.
  19. Brilliant, I'm a horse man, but even I want one of those trucks Where can I get one?
  20. Agreed, why could,nt you just have pm'd Steve and politely say that you had'nt received your prize, nobody does these kind of things to ger grief from it!
  21. Hope the link works http://www.americaslibrary.gov/assets/es/mn/es_mn_logging_1_e.jpg These loads was pulled from the river to the mill on an ice road, level ground, still one hell of a feat, very little margin for error.
  22. Cheers Sawdust, I knew someone would come up trumps.
  23. Does anyone have a telephone number for the above, I know he's got a sawmill and chainsaw/arb shop, not far from the M6 Lake District area and I can't find his number for love nor money, cheers, CJ
