  1. Cheers mate, as you know I used MB for the last job but got one coming up in the new year that could use a platform like that one. If you don't mind me asking how much was the hire per day? PM if you prefer cheers
  2. What was the max height and outreach on the machine? Is that the largest one they offer?
  3. You sure its brail mate and not just raised plastic around the buttons, got me thinking now I'll have a look in the morning
  4. No problem mate. Probably more revenue than you think. I got my current job through Arbtalk and also some Saturday work through here as well, sure others must be in the same boat
  5. Yeah MB access have used them and they are quality, google them and get a quote first class service
  6. A £9k pay rise, sounds like he should be an MP, does he put his duck pond house on expenses too! I would say anywhere between £95 and £110 a day for a good climber who also leads a team and undertakes all works from hedge trimming to crane and mewp work
  7. Cheers David. Just looking through the AA guide that you helped make:thumbup1: I will pop back down there and take some samples. We pollarded the tree a few months as it has been in decline for a while but the council wanted to try and preserve the tree. When I worked on the tree it only had ganoderma which was visible, but the other fungus weren't on the base. I only saw these on the tree when I passed it today as I was looking at other works in the area
  8. To those in the know, Is this honey fungus?
  9. A few quid each from Jonesie and they can be used for foot holds, rigging, redirects, wrapping round hand hold stuff in the tree or mewp etc although not all at once!
  10. I use the small tape slings as foot holds if there isn't any foot pegs or the branches are slippery when reducing or pruning. They cost peanuts and have multiple uses in the tree
  11. Nice set up, what kind of weight will that hiab pick at that reach and what weight will the trailer take?
  12. A small fir reduction from yesterday. Approx 5ft off the top and 12 - 18 inches off of the laterals to rebalance.
  13. Crown lighting and dismantling some mature pines above an elevated walk way in a park
  14. Just out of interest how comes you have gone back to 3.5, most seem to be going the other way
  15. Yeah i did see that on there the other day. The one thing that would put me off is the crew cab with the tools in the back but thats just personal preference. Does look nice as long as it has got history then the Isuzu's go on for ever, you seem them everywhere in Africa, Tunisia, Turkey etc. I think the crew cab may have an even lower payload but the gross train will be 7.5 if the truck is 3.5 ton
  16. not great because the box is heavy, legally less than a ton. If you can go bigger because of our licence the 7.5ton's are well thought of
  17. Yeah i thought it was lighter, but from memory trailer says 750kg on the plate? I'll check though as you may be right. Definately feels more then 550 pushing it around!
  18. Not mine personally just the firm I work for!
  19. Mature/large sweet chestnut reduction. By the time we had removed the dead limbs and decayed stuff there wasn't a massive amount to work with but the client was happy as they want to preserve the tree rather than fell. Probably about 20% off in total after all of the decayed and dead was taken out. Not the finest reduction ever but ticks the boxes
  20. Yeah the grafters are 3.5ton, but if you get the wide cab like the one in the pic then essentially it is a 5 ton downrated truck. Has a 3.5 ton towing capacity and pulls the tracked and trailer like a train. Have had the tracked and trailer which weigh around 2ton plus say 3 ton on the back (obviously not on the public highway) and the truck still pulls well. The grafters are well geared for towing
  21. Yeah we have got a full width ramp but the problem we have is the trailer sits a bit high and the guys don't like chipping with it on the trailer. Some times we might do three jobs in a day for the local council so it can be a bit of a faff to load and unload each time
  22. Good truck with many uses, must nearly be overloaded empty with that hiab and the bin on the back!
  23. Why not have a look at the forst tracked. We've got two of the road tows and a timberwolf 150 tracked and all admit if the forst had been around 18 months ago we would have got that on tracks over the 150. We used to hire one off of a firm we share a yard with can't you hire one for a bit before committing?
  24. Not a bad idea I'll give it a go. We've got a timberwolf and the stogs and bits roll out the hopper when it is on a hill, suppose you can't have it all!
  25. Is that an indespension trailer? Looks similar to ours I just think the chipper sits a bit high on it to chip. We've got two road tows as well so can take the tracked when needed. Overall I think they are quality, only when you get one you think how did you manage without one. Would also say you get work that you wouldn't normally of got as you can now track the machine to the job and not have to drag stuff miles!
