  1. Yeah they have got two machines were looking at, just want to see if there are any other firms and get a couple of quotes Cheers
  2. Yeah not too bad to plan. Just looking for a machine that we can track along with the timber attached so we can put it into the truck rather than put it on the floor as the access is narrow we can't get the usual timber lorry up the drive. Apparently compards have got a machine that tracks along with upto 1.5 ton on so going to look at that machine as that may fit the bill
  3. Approx 1.2 cube as it is in pic according to mitsubishi figures for the tub
  4. Nothing exciting just removing major dead from line of around 30 odd medium Pine's. Was able to throw line from tree to tree to save a bit of time
  5. A nice and sympathetic reduction in this TPO'd copper beech. I didn't climb it, I let one of my guys crack on with this. Nice shape
  6. Thanks David, good Video by the way. Did he say what the big lump weighed as ideally I want to be able to lift that size chunks but maybe the chestnut is slightly larger in diameter. Also is that the kind of crane that can 'track along' whilst it holds the piece on the chains?
  7. I'm going to up my load to £100, reckon thats a fair price for good hardwood
  8. Cheers David I'll have a look at the video. Can you remember what you paid if you don't mind me asking. Coppards want around £850 plus vat and that includes the operator for a day which I didn't think was unreasonable.
  9. Cheers Ive got a quote from Coppard's and they seem to know their stuff. They also do MEWP's which may be of interest to you as you are in Kent. I also tried Savage but they said they don't have the tracked cranes anymore
  10. Hi, Does anybody know who hires out the tracked type of cranes in Kent or South East London and prices? Looking for a narrow access crane that can get through the same size gate as a normal 3.5 ton truck. Cheers Jay
  11. You've got St Margrets Farm which is near Dartford so probably about 30 mins from Orpington and they charge £30 per load for whatever you have on the back and any size wagon
  12. 20% tpo Ash reduction and lift from the other week
  13. Pretty much mate but see post above for bit of info but ultimately I gave them a price to either reduce, thin or brace and an explanation and advise for each and they wanted it reduced, as you know mate if you don't do it someone else will!
  14. Only just seen this. Yes the main reason was as per Rich's reply. Basically we have worked on this tree for many years. About three or four years again we thinned the tree to reduce the sail factor as well as deadwooding for safety. The tree continues to thrive and put on a large amount of growth due to good conditions and the fact that there isn't any surrounding competition. The tree owners love the tree and want to preserve it (they've even renamed the house after the tree). The tree was slightly lop sided in the way it had grown and they were looking to have it rebalanced and to achieve an even all round shape. We initially went for another thin to reduce some of the load and decrease sail factor but they were adamant that they wanted it reduced and brought into shape. We therefore did a 15 ~ 20% reduction to rebalance the tree and achieve the shape they wanted. Personally I preferred the way it looked before but they were delighted with the result and ultimately they pay for a service, we supply it - happy days. Without waffling on there is a lot of weight up there and the home owners were concerned with limb failure as they have small children, we looked at other options such as non invasive bracing etc but they opted for the reduction. If it were my tree would I have reduced it? No I wouldn't but that wasn't my decision to make. At the end of the day they were happy with what we did and I am happy with the reduction.
  15. I've given your number to the guy we rent our yard from who has a mountain of crappy wood he wants rid off so maybe you can arrange something together of poss.

    Forst ST6

We have two of the st6's. Had a demo when they first come out and was so impressed we ordered one there and then. Have had a few issues with the machines, first was the starter motor which redwood came out and did a software upgrade. The other was paint flaking/cracking off and again they picked the machine up, dropped off a hire machine, fixed it and brought it back. Overall very good chipper, good value for money and very good after sales
  17. Medium beech dismantle, tree is at a school and has meripilus and been dying back for a while so it was to come down
  18. Yes mate still with Jamie
  19. They do both, either a guy with the MEWP who operates and cuts or just the MEWP only as long as you have IPAF 1b and hired in plant insurance to cover the cost of the machine
  20. Yeah cheers I did get their number off of here but MBS came back before I had a chance to call them! will keep their number handy
  21. yeah it was Matt, very good operator job went smoothly!
  22. Well worth using them, they know there stuff and we'll definitely have them in again. We needed this one in a rush to get the tree down by end of half term and they came through and price was good considering it came from up Braintree way. PM if you want to know rate.
  23. Yeah think thats his name, he's got a firm called MBS grounds care or something similar. Matt was the guy who came with the machine. They are from up by Braintree I think. Believe he's got around 10 MEWP's now. Pucker firm to deal with
  24. Oak pollard at a school with the help of a teupen 30 via MBS in essex. Very good firm from start to finish. Tree pollarded at 12m for safety and left for habitat. Tree had fistulina and was completely hollow at the bowl and into the four main limbs
  25. Used MBS platforms from essex today for a large oak pollard and had their leo 30t on site. Very efficient and professional firm from quote stage through to loading the machine at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend them to anybody needing a MEWP in the South East and will be using them again soon. A far better firm and equipment IMO than a local kent firm with a name that is taken from a car made by ford in the 80/90's!
