  1. I'm looking into the background of these claims.....theres alot to read. I think one of the issues was that swathes of Ancient Forest was purchased in Russia and razed to enable them to establish plantations.. They also had their licence from the FSC suspended.
  2. Given Woodland Trust's role in Environmental Conservation and woodland protection i'm a little bewildered to see that the community/school tree give away has as a funding partner IKEA. This is a company who after all have been widely condemned for felling Ancient Forest in Russia, obliterating established eco systems to make furniture. Thoughts please:confused1:
  3. Resurrect a thread with these.
  4. Another from Arnos Vale
  5. Do you know where I can find this paper? Cannot seem to see it on Treeworks publications list on the website. Cheers.

  8. Yeah thats grim mate........we had people coming up to us appalled that we should be building setts for such 'vermin'.....all badgers 'should be killed'....'they spread disease and attack children'.......WTF?
  9. we had a plan drawn up by the ecologists with specific distances/sizes etc.....think these were based around dimensions taken from previous setts etc.
  10. Care to elaborate? Is that in reference that we are culling but also stipulating measures such as the above? Or that planning permission was granted?
  11. Not sure what this was in here for but I shall be making enquites to get it removed.
  12. some of the chambers have been left 'open' at the back so the badgers can expand as and when they feel like.
  13. Planning permission to build a new local cinema in close proximity to an existing sett. App granted on condition that Badgers are relocated. This will take place in Aug/Sept.
  14. Found another photo.
  15. As per title.... I have just spent an interesting 3 days constructing a large Badger Sett from scratch..... This involved excavated about a mtr down, constructing chambers and all connection tunnels then covering it all with 120 tonnes of soil. This will then be planted to provide cover. Different work to usual but a welcome change. Heres a few photos (unfortunately I accidently deleted alot more.)
