  1. same as you today mark, i reduced this willow before last year 30% they wanted, waste of time as they found out. this time i told them best option is to get it pollarded and re-pollard every 2/3 years. should come back alright. was abit of a pig, no anchor point and long limbs with no good foot or hand holds, added to the fact there was no drop zone because of the 5 BT wiresgoing both sides of the tree and through the middle. still casually had it done by 12,30, with some cracking views
  2. had really strong winds today, got 1 min from my house to go to a quote and passed a big lime had fallen to the winds on a big estate, as always had fallen at a perfect angle to make it fall 1ft short of the road, would love to get work on that estate they have some monster trees there
  3. this is a ash tree in my garden had these marks on the bottom of the stem but has got alot worse and couple years ago it got the bigger marks down the whole length of one of the stems, now its getting more cracks. just really wanting to no what causes it and recomendations i thought it would be as it moves in the wind it causes cracking in the bark (its in a very open position infront of a open field catches alot of wind) so i reduced the crown to reduce the wind sail but more cracks have appeared. any ideas? many thanks
  4. ahhh then you were thinking same as me then when i was looking at it i was thinking has winch on front and pto at the back for chipper dont no how much would cost to take the mewp off and stick a tipper on the back.
  5. doesnt look very good platform though alright if you could get right up against the tree, but even then its not very tall by looks of it.
  6. the not so happy hammers at the moment west ham
  7. just remember the back up strop attached to the bottom attachment point incase the ratchet fails, and it does fail if you hit it with a log your lowering had it happen. also after you have finished with the pre loading you will need to move the lever out of the way before lowering.
  8. i can just picture you now mark, climbing up it just to get a pic of you with you legs wraped round that stem
  9. seen it before you can tell its fake but still a good effort
  10. since the guy in the vid finds it abit fiddly its not a good video showing off the grinder is it really
  11. more top work tony you no how all the trees are round my way i have to re-reduce now
  12. ive got 1 of the oregon bench mounted 1's and they are top quality sharpeners really the price reflects it though couple hundred quid if not more.
  13. is everything else is top notch apart from the body it would be worth your while to sand it all down to bare metal and if most of the body is sound then do re spray and sell it for a big profit
  14. i like the indepth description hes got of it
  15. well it works very well and save the chore of haveing to unload and load up everytime you get to a job, makes things go alot smoother, everything has its place. so why not copy
  16. all painted and got some of the angled chequer plate on the edges, just need to buy a tiny bench vice to fit onto the folding side and it will be finished.
  17. i like to fill my back up to much to use to much room for tools i have got a under body ally tool box to go the other side under the tipper though
  18. you can bolt a chain to the tailgate and then drill a hole in the tipper floor and lower the tipper onto the chain to lock it that way would be the safest option. plus then you can use the same chain to hold the tailboard level so you could attach a vice to it for sharpening.
  19. got back from holiday yesterday afternoon, so today i thought id have a lazy day trying to sort out a seperate tool compartment on my truck. seems to have worked out well all it needs now is some final touches like a chain to hold the truck side board up level so i can fix a little vice on there for sharpening and some paint etc. see how long it lasts i guess
  20. nice honest video big tree aswell keep em coming
  21. id price that between £2000-2500 and take 2 days but allow 2&1/2 days to collect all timber and clean up to my usual standard. but that would be if everything had to be lowered. if there was access for a crane to get in i would be looking to do that in a day and charge same money with 1/10th of the effort but if you use a crane you need to make sure you have the staff and equipment on the ground to get rid of the stuff because it will come down fast.
  22. i see in the pics with your new bollard you have the 2nd backup strap attached to the top, really it should be attached to the bottom attachment point, because if the ratchet snaped if you had it set up like yours the bollard would flip upwards, if your backup is below it wouldnt move until theres no tension on the line. worth thinking about
  23. i dont drive round in a big red truck with lights and sirens and a hose putting out fires, so why should they be allowed to try and bodge felling a tree.
  24. well if your going to raise the bar that high im going all out for americian footballers
