  1. Go on, enlighten me...
  2. You do know what halal food is, don't you?
  3. That looks like squirrel damage to me, they absolutely love Horse Chesnut but then, so do Roe deer. Just been round my newly planted wood this morning and coosed the deer out again - between them, the squirrels and the bunnies, it's amazing any of my trees make it.
  4. Which community is it that insists that - despite accounting for less than 5% of the population - an ever increasing number of school dinners now have to satisfy their religious requirements? Which community actively encourages it's followers to, if possible, ''avoid the dress of the unbeliever''? Which community not only discourages it's girls from fraternising with 'kafir', but in extreme cases resorts to murdering those that disobey such instruction? I could go on (and on), but you get the idea - why is it that ''tolerance, respect and inclusivity'' only have to be shown by one side? Why does the host community constantly have to bend to accommodate the demands of this (and it's almost always this) religion's demands? Are you familiar with the terms 'Taqiyya' and 'Kitman'? Are you aware which of the Deobandi sect, which controls nearly half of mosques in the UK, and trains nearly all of it's scholars? Do some research, then you might realise that the way to contain the spread of extremism doesn't involve sitting around a camp fire singing 'Kumbaya'.
  5. Photo shopped by tory party employee; http://anotherangryvoice.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/the-mainstream-media-wont-condemn-tory.html ''Fake news'' at it's finest:001_rolleyes:
  6. Why are you so keen to apply a 'racist' label? Perhaps he loves to travel, loves to experience other cultures? After all. if I go to Spain, I expect it to be Spanish, similarly,France should be French, and India Indian - do you see where this is going? Why is it that when Europeans settle abroad and impose their culture on the indigenous populations is it derided as 'colonialism', yet when the reverse happens we're all instructed to 'embrace diversity' and 'multiculturalism' or face being shouted down as 'bigots, xenophobes and racists'? Perhaps Matelot enjoys his own indigenous culture, and doesn't want to see it being progressively undermined by the spread of third world, misogynistic, homophobic, intolerant beliefs, and if that makes him a racist, well I'm afraid that there are many, many others.
  7. Cheap shot there, if the man has served - totally uncalled for IMO:thumbdown:
  8. Your conflating correlation with causation. Yes, I agree, refugees cost, but the sums are minuscule when taken as a percentage of the overall budget - go see how many Trillions it cost to bail out the banks, then see how many billions the BOE has pumped in to the economy - and continues to do so - under the guise of 'quantitative easing'.
  9. Directly? Not so many. Indirectly, as a result of their actions? Debatable...
  10. You could argue the case for many social problems being the fault of migrants/refugees/asylum seekers, but financial austerity sure aint one of them.
  11. Cheers, J. I wasn't looking for sympathy, as I'm well aware that it's something that many, many people have to deal with every day, and I only mentioned it in relation to the OP. By coincidence, she did her first round of radiotherapy at the same time as this man - https://www.theguardian.com/music/2017/feb/19/peter-skellern-obituary who just passed away - nice bloke, Cancer really is a bastard, hopefully when my time comes I'll go quietly in the night - like my Dad did. Anyway, thanks again for your sympathy
  12. My Mother is dying of the same form of cancer ATM, so this obviously resonates with me - I struggled to listen to the last part.
  13. it's from 'The Grauniad'. FFS!, where any criticism of Islam is strictly verboten. Other sources are available, but I suppose thety can easily be dismissed as 'racist' or 'Islamophobic' or some other word that if shouted loudly and often enough seems to pass for debate in the mind of many SJW's. It?s not only Germany that covers up mass sex attacks by migrant men... Sweden?s record is shameful And the response of the Swedish authorities to this new and growing threat? - Wear a ''don't molest me'' bracelet. https://polisen.se/Aktuellt/Nyheter/2016/Juni/Tafsa-inte--och-polisanmal-om-du-blivit-utsatt/
  14. Trump is a vain, egotistical narcissist, of that there can be no doubt, and, if the opportunity arose, I could never imagine voting for him - or Clinton, for that matter - BUT, like it or not, he is the democratically elected POTUS, and de facto Leader of the Free World, and I'm getting rather weary of the reluctance shown by certain people who not only refuse to accept this fact and move on, but who then go on to actively orchestrate a campaign to first hamstring and then ultimately overthrow his administration, thereby effectively overturning a democratic vote - and they accuse Trump of being a Facist? If you don't like the result, organise yourself, debate the issues that matter, stop 'no platforming' people and retreating to your 'safe space' and - crucially - run a candidate next time who's USP isn't solely the fact that they possess a vagina.
  15. Koenraad Elst, in 'Negationism in India'', puts the figure at somewhere north of 100 million, Daniel Pipes arrives at a similar figure, many Hindu sources would say that's a conservative estimate and double it to 200 million +, whereas some Muslims deny the whole thing ever happened, claiming nobody died and that thousands converted to Islam of their own volition, once they realised it was the one true religion. The BBC History site - while keen to list the 'benefits' brought by the invaders - scarcely touches on these massacres and forced conversions, in marked contrast - obviously - to their history of the British in India. So, like many historical events, the truth is often subjective, the Turkish denial of the Armenian genocide is a case in point. On the subject of Trump and his travel ban, although it's a 'Fox News' link, this story is quite relevant to the debate [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amNRGpA4Ph8[/ame] Listen, in particular, to the last minute of the interview - then google 'taqiya' and 'kitman'.
  16. False analogy. Neither Hitler - who, btw, claimed to be a Xtian - or Stalin used atheism as motivation or justification to carry out their atrocities - you could just as easily claim that the fact that they both had moustaches led them to undertake such heinous crimes. As for ''far outweighing any atrocities committed in the name of religion'', possibly the greatest genocide in rrecorded history was the one carried out on Hindu India by the Mughal Empire, truly staggering numbers that dwarf the efforts of Hitler and Stalin combined. Best not mention the religion responsible, wouldn't want to be accused of possessing any 'phobias'
  17. I see yer 'Casbah' and raise you 'Brixton'; [ame] [/ame]Better take any others to the appropriate thread, for fear of going 'off topic'...
  18. It implies either fear of said extremists and their power in the ''community'', or tacit approval of their actions - not a good look either way. Nice 'Clash' reference, btw.
  19. For the umpteenth time, Islam is not a race - it's a political ideology, and people are right to be concerned at it's continuing spread and influence in our secular, western democracies. Still, looks like we're all going to have to get used to it, as the recent pronouncement from the UN makes abundantly clear; United Nations News Centre - EU should seek common approach to address tragic loss of life on Mediterranean – UN agencies Seems that rather than deterring economic migrants - sorry, 'refugees' - from pouring into Europe, the EU should be facilitating their progress by providing ''[i][a significant expansion of opportunities for safe pathways such as resettlement and humanitarian admission, among others, to avoid dangerous journeys,”/I] That , taken with UN Migration chief Peter Sutherland's demands that the EU should seek to ''undermine national homogeneity'' EU should 'undermine national homogeneity' says UN migration chief - BBC News should surely be enough for any rational individual to identify what the ultimate endgame is for Europe - or is it still easier to ignore the evidence, stick your fingers in your ears and cry ''racist!'' at anyone who dares question where this is all ultimately leading?
  20. Why wouldn't any rational person fear the spread of Islam in Europe?
  21. This is what's giving me pause for thought ATM - on one online site I was assured they had the correct engine in stock, but when questioned later on the 'phone, it turned out to be an incompatible unit from a slightly earlier model.
  22. Agg221, the irony is this is the first 'decent' car we've ever bought, and only then coz the wife got a good deal ex-lease through her work at the time - other than that, we too tend to be 'end users'. I'm no expert mechanic, but I could always find my way around a car - not any more though. Personally, I think there's two ways to go in this day and age - either lease something and get it all included, or buy a 'shed' and run it into the ground or scrap it if major work is required down the line.
  23. Thanks for the replies, folks. Yeh, that's the option I'm leaning towards ATM, only problem is there's no guarantee of the mileage, and the engines vary so much that it's easy to end up with an engine that's incompatible - apparently I need a Z13DTE, and that last letter is hugely significant. Yeh, done that, that's where I got the costings mentioned in the OP from. Looks like I may have to bite the bullet and get a stop-gap for around a grand - the missus is currently rattling around in our son's Micra that's nearly as old as he is.
  24. Wife's Corsa, having reached the 100,000 mile mark, decided to break timing chain last week with the outcome being a replacement engine needed, and I'm now undecided what to do. Been quoted anything between £850 to north of £2k for a secondhand engine, plus delivery and fitting, and there's no guarantee of engine mileage plus a short to very short warranty with that. Options at the moment are bite the bullet and get a cheapish engine fitted and hope for the best, or stick it on E-Bay and see if anyone wants it for a project. Right aftr Xmas as well... Car is an ecoflex 1.3 tdi on a 60 plate that we bought at the end of it's rental period and is worth a bit less than £3k, - any advice gratefully received.
  25. Well, I sincerely hope that you're not sat there fumigating, unless you've been overun with insects - did you mean fulminating?
