  9. Looks like a bit of a mess, but as with all snap outs, I would secure the broken stuff to the tree first! Then go about clearing its path to lower down. Hard to tell from the pictures. Good luck.

  15. Im with Skyhuck on this. We are mere ants to mother Earth, once she is done with us, she will put her boot on us and kick us off the world. Then maybe in another few hundred thousand years, more ants will emerge
  16. Good thread Ad, keep it going.
  17. I know Mark! Really I could have taken more of that back stem down before the fell, but I didnt... As Cosby says, "Piece of sheet fence' (In a Mexican accent)
  18. Here is the second video. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHXlJdTADXI]TWM Medium - large tulip wood rigging tree work - YouTube[/ame] The owner was replacing all the broken up concrete around the pool, that the tree had ruined. Also she was ripping up the brick where I laid the stick, so she wasn't fussed if it got tore up. And she hates the fence around the pool, but the county insist she has it for some reason. I tried to remove it initially, but it wouldn't budge. When the stem fell, it split right in two, making it easier to cut up, but one half touched the fence post, which we fixed and made better than it was before.
  19. I know I know, the first part of the trunk was pretty fat and gnarly, had metal sticking out of it too.... Tulip is weird stuff! This tree had a huge growth spurt in the last 3 years, pushed all that concrete up by the pool, and the rings were nearly an inch in diameter. When I felled the stem, the trunk split exactly in half, which took out that one fence post, but they are replacing all that busted concrete etc. Managed to bend it back into shape alright. Got it on film.
  20. Or course I used the flipline once I was passed the first union..... The big shot came in handy yesterday... Getting pretty accurate now
  21. Reg, I learned everything I know from you the initial climb I did DdRT, wasnt certain about putting the pantin over the spike, but after lunch I wrenched back up, it was not so bad, still need to finesse the going up technique,,,, I have a hand ascender, and got a perfect bungee for ascending the gear, just not used to it I guess. Got all the wood down today, felled the stem, towards the fence, and the bugger split right in 2! It had been struck by lightening 3 years ago, the back stem, and there was significant charred wood in the centre of the tree... I took some film of it all, so will probably put another video together.
  22. Silky, that was the only piece to get hung up, always clean your stubs!@!!! The music was by Ray Brown, great bass player.. Monkey, the camera is a Contour Roam HD, cheap but cheerful.
  23. Tuesday at the office, here is a medium/large Tulip tree in a backyard for removal. Easy simple tree to tackle. Not much impeding our work. Did the brush by 12.15 then did some wood after lunch. Hope you dont get too bored with the film !!
