  1. Cheers Liam. Shame you weren't on it.
  2. Without measuring I wouldn't take a second guess.
  3. The wide angle lens of that camera gives a funny effect, not really showing the true scene. Also the batteries die frequently so you chose to record not all the work. As for roping off, the less cuts the climber makes saves energy and time, and ballache, but also not to ruin that fence too much, which you could not evaluate unless you were on the job yourself.
  4. Hey yeh but could they keep up with me?
  5. Cheers Terry, bit more complex than saturday! See you soon.
  6. Thanks R. The stick had a letter box cut, and yes should have had ears too, I thought the hinges would break, but she went over slowly so not enough momentum. Can't win em all after doing 24 others similar on that plot, I now deserve a holiday!
  7. As u can see I was putting ears on most of the cuts. The trees had to be down on that day. my plan for that limb was for it to swing away from me, with alittle control from the rope, which it did, not to lower as such, just for a bit of control, but slack came into the line because of angles. But anyway, we got them done and got home safe.
  8. Hi again guys. Had to get these two down in a day, they were in a tight corner, fence underneath, long sprawling limbs on the back one. Tricky. Willow is dangerous and unpredictable to cut. I had a few branches split when cut. I was happy when that stick was on the ground. At the end of the day the mission was to get the trees down as safe as possible, mine and Bretts safety above all. 1 rotten fence panel didn't matter. Awkward trees in an awkward position. part 1 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bq5TJqRBpc]YouTube - willows 1_0001.wmv[/ame] part 2 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R2pITAAclo]YouTube - willows 2_0001.wmv[/ame]
  9. Thanks Reg. Ive repositioned the camera now so should be better next time. And Ill remember about the visor! I saved it as wmv, but not sure if that was the best file type for youtube. Will experiment. Good idea about a bass solo, might get me a musical gig too! Doing 2 medium willows tomorrow, Ill make suer I get some better footage. Cheers
  10. Just goin for a hang out.
  11. Some pics, cheers Terry!
  12. Mark they were small for lombardys, but I guess about 70 - 80 foot. I got some nice big willows to do on Monday so will get some more action then. Need to adjust the camera so its not so high-view.
  13. Ill come and do it for ya Ian.
  14. Just get a new breather, they cost about a fiver I think. Simple to fit too...
  15. Just got my Drift Cam last night, fixed it to my lid, and had a crack today. Need to adjust it a little, its too high. Two small Pops for removal, easy enough, nice day, a little wind, takin it easy. Was done and home by 11.30! Wahey! 16. I was told the guy didn't have his helmet on. He was within two tree lengths of a tree being felled, the felled tree knocked a top out of a larch and hit him. The guys had to hold his head together with their hands. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HELMET ON SITE!!! It is down to every member of the team to make sure every person is safe at all times. Safety comes first.
  17. Thankyou Paul. Most helpful.
  18. Bob, That method is not what a VERY large contractor agrees with AS i FOUND OUT. I guess each organization has their own rules on the subject, as I found out. A N A L
  19. Its a very grey area. Even NPTC assessors say different things. Am I allowed to dismantle trees or just cut twigs???
  20. Ok, Im just wondering what exactly you can do once you have cs39. Legally. Some say you can dismantle trees using certain cuts, others say you can only cut twigs in the tree. What is your take on the matter?
  21. Hey thanks guys, I found someone who is local and good value. Thanks for the replies.
  22. Enjoy that coke then? I like your floating rope retrieval, I understand it more after seeing that. Will be trying it out very soon. Why did you take your spike off?
  23. Hi anyone know an inspector in the nw area? Need one asap. Thanks
