  1. Hi guys, remember me?? If you do, you'll recall that I was packing in work to look after my Dad who became unable to walk. Sadly, he died in March, followed by my father-in-law in April. My Dad-in-law was terminally ill with cancer, but his passing was very sudden. So, just coming to terms with losing Dad when we got the next shock so you may consider that 2010 has not been kind to us so far. It does open new opportunities workwise, so wish me luck Guys. TT.
  2. Nice toy that mate, I can recommend Axminster having dealt with them a couple of times in the past. Cannot do enough to help if you have a problem with your puchases. Delivery is quick too.
  3. Good luck for the future guys:thumbup:

    Mentors

Hi Guys, this is exactly what I'm after, the pros & cons of it all. Funny thing is that I was thinking about 'electing' candidates at time of writing so it would help prevent 'know-nowts' charging consultancy rates for rubbish advice. The number of times I've seen people leave a place with a 'settlement' only to return 3 months later in a 'consultancy' role at greatly increased salary. Maybe even training for a qualification of some sort in the last few years up to 65? Not everyone can pass on knowledge effectively, so this would show them how. Thanks for the input fellas.

    Mentors

Hello again peoples, This thread is a response to Skyhuck's (Tales of the unexpcted) thread on passing knowledge on to others. Great idea!! I think if the Government (any) want people to work after retirement age, then it should be in an advisory capacity to pass on knowledge gained over years of hands-on experience. Too often (probably always) when a person retires, they take all that knowledge & experience with them & it is wasted as it never sees the light of day again. Little wonder old traditions die out. What are your thought on this? Is it a good idea? Would it also help to stop retirees feeling useless & discarded after 65? I'd like to think so.
  6. Nice to know there are still good guys around. Well done mate.
  7. Plippy, I got one & used it to partly shape the Moai tikki head that I did. (see thread of same name). Yes, ya do need to watch what yer doin' with it but as with all the stuff people use on this site, treat with the respect it deserves & you won't go far wrong mate. Shifts a LOT of wood in no time flat! Gentle sweeping side to side motion gets good results. Hope this helps.
  8. Hi again Penfold mate, Well played on the new van, I don't know if you read my post on 'smart water' but it seems to have divided opinion on it's validity. I personally would use it & am looking into it now for fesability. Now rat poison......Even BETTER!!!! Everybody keep you eyes peeled for a theiving twonk with a sick look on his face:001_tt2: Hope it's all sorted sooner rather than later mate.
  9. Nice one mate, will await the end result excitedly:001_smile:
  10. Hi Penfold, Glad to hear you found your van mate.....Although you sound a bit like me in as far as the van is 'not yours anymore' when the scrotes have done with it. I only hope they get some decent prints off it & get some morons butt in a slingshot & fire it off in the general direction of Armley jail. Plates & signwiting jobbie looks like it was either going to be sold on or worse, used in a raid of some sort. Get yourself a nice new Tranny...........NO Mr Lofthouse, get out of that dress NOW!! It don't look right with chainsaw boots anyway. (Sorry Dean)
  11. Thanks for the replies fellas. I know what you mean about security being most important, but any edge we can get over the local scrotes is always welcome imo. I think we need to bring the stocks back into the town square. Let folks wang a few rotten tomatoes & eggs at em for a day or two.....They might think twice eh? Except the bleeding hearts brigade would bang on about the poor little mites 'Human Rights' being violated.....Yeah, right
  12. SmartWater - Products Hi Guys n Gals, Seing that Penfolds van has gone missing just reminded me of a site I checked out today. (Link above). All you lads n lasses who need your kit to make your living should really take a look at this. could be worth the cost if you get your kit back & the theiving creeps get caught red handed. I just noticed that my (only slightly) unusual dust caps have gone off my car wheels this morning. O.K. not the crime of the century I know, but I bought the things so they should stay where I *%$&£"^ well put them, right? I once had a petrol mower & Stihl strimmer nicked & insurers didn't even cover the cost of even one of them..Sounds stupid, but I tore the cheque up & gave them an ear bashing......Not that it made any difference. Hope it helps anyroad up.
  13. I'm not that far away from there so I will keep a look out. Plenty of pikeys round our way lately, (Hmmm, I wonder)!!
  14. Scott, That is awesome (to use a well overworked term) work. Can you do something like that for me please? I have almost twenty pounds to spend but if you can leave me with enough for some chips I'd be well happy.
  15. Hi all, great pics. It seems to have gone dead round my neck of the woods. Hopefully it'll pick up a bit soon.
  16. Sad really, I was just getting into Landscapertalk & wanted to learn more. If it's being carried on here then thank you Steve, that's great. A thicky like me needs all the help he can get:001_tongue: I would love to see stuff on fencing,(Knowing which sword to use is vital)......Ohhh that kind of fencing???? Yeah, that's good too. Serious now come on lad. Anything to do with measures, quantities & suchlike for patios n paving is always useful. I have a job I quoted for looming in September (asuming he doesn't put it off again) to do a gravelled area for a client & I think I'm topside of the facts & figures. (He didn't run away screaming for his mummy anyway) This & a request to do a living room floor in laminate flooring I had enough with doing my own but I'll do me best for them. (Friend of me sister) Steve Bullman, & team, yer flippin' marvelous but I think you need a 60 hour day to fit in what you do:001_smile:
  17. The worst thing is they take your livelyhood away & there's no comeback on them even if they are caught. They should be given community work to do...Sweeping the streets, litter picking & such. NOT for pay, but to earn the money to repay you for lost business & equipement. It has been said before about making them wear bibs identifying them as wrongdoers & the scrotes saying it was demeaning to have passers by shouting abuse at them. I would have bibs with 'I am a theif' written on them & let people shout what they like at them. I you don't want it happening to you keep yer sticky mits OFF other people's kit. Not enough deterrent these days thanks to the bleeding hearts brigade. Rant over!!..........Hands in the chipper.......I like it.....I like it a LOT:001_tt1:
  18. Isle of Barra in '07. Brilliant island, lovely people:001_tt1:. Made to feel very welcome. Make it one of your stops if you can mate.
  19. Oops, missed this thread completely:blushing: Ex drummer here, all sold up now but loved playing blues n stuff like that but not pinned down to any paticular genre of music. Have played most stuff in me time.
  20. NICE!! Like 'em........Like 'em a lot. Not had time to do anything wooden at all lately, got withdawal symptoms:scared1: Thanks for sharing these matey
  21. All the best Mr. B, Here's to many more years to come.
  22. Hey thanks guys, all your ideas have been incorporated in a 'special' scooter I've ordered for him. Now, if I can just scrape together the £70k asking price:scared1:.......May have to raid me rainy-day piggy bank:001_tongue: Thanks for the laugh lads, & the good wishes. Really put a shine on an otherwise dull week.
  23. Absolutely fantastic Tommy, gobsmacked I am. I am inspired by your work, all I need to find now is a nice big lump of talent & I'll be as good as you mate.
