  1. I should add that chainsaw carvers should steer clear of it, as due to the way they use their saws, i.e with the bar NOT buried in the wood- using one side of the bar or just the bar nose etc- the saw does get sprayed with veg oil that bakes on the fins and the saw will sieze through overheating.
  2. I do think its better for the saw- the chains seem to run free-er and cooler with it too.
  3. Its bang out of order IMO. Unfortunately it seems to be the way the internet works. It is easy to be vitriolic and critical to the point of hurt whilst hiding behind the anonimity of ones P.C.
  4. No. I have been doing this for several years now, and a mate has been doing it for over 20 with no ill effects. I do remove all the casing on the climbing saw once a year to check, but there is rarely anything to worry about, and TBH the saving over 'real' oil would pay for a new saw probably.
  5. Exactly what Oldmilltrees said.
  6. I use veg oil from the back of the pub (used). It cant get much eco friendlier than that. And its usually free. Although i did have to pay £4 for the last 20 litres though!
  7. They are really cool. I love it!
  8. The Maul Dave. I have one you can try if you like.
  9. YEah sounds like turbo. Thes jap things aint half pricey arent they?!?!
  10. If your machine is set up properly and blades are correctly sharpened this is not an issue. Swing mills are also more wasteful having a thicker cut, and I think i am correct in saying that they are slower overall, which is why most commercial mills nowadays use bandsaw mills.
  11. Class. Good find!
  12. Although i dont have one, the 346xp would be my advice.
  13. Its quality stuff Rob:sneaky2:........you ever tried miling any? I did once, just for a giggle. It was a TOTAL waste of fuel and time. From this country it is just crap firewood at best that stuff.
  14. Looks lovely. Great afternoon reading PGK. Looking forward to the next installments.
  15. Thats as maybe, but its more informative and techincally accurate than anything Dadio ever posts:lol:
  16. Its a beautiful tree, surrounded by hideous houses and a crap stone wall. It is also now worth an enourmous sum of money by dint of the fact that NYCC have behaved in such an inexcusable way. In the pic above, the tree is the ONLY thing worth keeping. IMO they should fell all those monstrous chavvy buildings with their awful roof tiles and hideous PVC.
  17. Yeah thats cool- there just seem to be loads of people with eucs to be taken down on ebay recently lol!
  18. Come on guys- you know it makes sense:sneaky2: EUCALYPTUS HARDWOOD LOGS 50Kg load. For firewood / turning / carving. Many sizes | eBay
  19. EUCALYPTUS WOOD TREE FOR WOODTURNING,WOODWORKING | eBay
  20. Hahaha nice one J!!
  21. IMO if you need more felling dogs on a tiny saw like a 240 when snedding your saw must be blunt. I think they would slow you down if anything.
  22. Just a name that floated through the ether. Not my neck of the woods so I thought I would be nosey lol.
