  1. Someone is missing their mog just a teensy weensy bit methinks..... I wouldnt even consider an MJ to follow a tractor unless you change it around somewhat- in my experience they are awful off road with bar grips or the knobbly tyres (sorry- not sure how else to describe them) even if you deflate the bargrips they are pretty awful, and the equivalent Daf is only marginally better.... A 130 and trailer can and will carry a hell of a load, in the region of 4 tonne gross which is better than a disco and trailer. Why not another tractor, such as a fendt or fastrac with high road speeds.
  2. Ah- so not a new one at all. I must have misunderstood- he meant new to himLOL. It was very late after a pretty full-on day. It looked really good, i liked the finer tooth gap at the end. Does it live up to expectations?
  3. Was shown a silky saw last night, which had closer teeth at the last few inches of the blade. Its called a Gomtaro. The chap who showed it me said he got it for when pruning small branches on fruit trees as it wouldnt rip the small twiggy bits. Looked quite good- any of you guys used one?
  4. A bit like this..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKptTuohldI]YouTube - King Missile - Cheesecake Truck[/ame]
  5. Haha- and driving about with a crick in your neck from staring up at trees as you drive......
  6. Any army/ government surplus supplies...you may find one locally in yello pages, or google it. Best bet for chainsaw files etc....as you say, tough and waterproof.
  7. Isnt forestry under the umbrella of agriculure anyway? I would check out the facts with your council/ cab/ DEFRA etc before responding.
  8. Bri- cornwall farmers down your way or in Roche do tractor hire, and there is always Dingle Brothers in bodmin.

    woodmizer

I am not sure about mizers, you could try woddmizer uk as i think they cary a few good second hand machine, or check out Hudson Mills or Norwood- you could get a bigger mill new for similar money to a second hand mizer, and they are excellent machines, albeit basic, although you could spend the same if you add on all the extras that are standard on a mizer.
  10. Steve, dont get hung up on what xander can or cant do- you are spending quality time with your boy, and what i have come to learn recently is that the most important thing for the well-being and stability of your kids is having that time. I was sent away to school when i was 10 y.o and i am now thinking that i dont really know my old man. I was talking the way you are to the hypno guy, about how i wasnt giving my son the education i got etc etc, and actually how your kids are educated or what they choose to spend their life doing is irelevant...quality time with his dad is the best thing that xander could have, full stop. Whether that be in a swimming pool, out for a walk with the dogs, or sitting in a mini digger is irrelevant, the fact that he is with you is paramount mate. Keep up the good work, just pray that the sea levels dont rise so much that largs is underwater.LOL
  11. Evening all- only just got back and had a shower!! Thanks to TCD- nice one again Jon, the day went realy well, really impressed (again) by the splitter. Sorry about forcing you to endure the rain and hail.....pretty grim wasnt it. I am fiinally warm and dry again now. Dave- well spotted on the cable tie. Yeah, its a throwback to the days when the 088 was used for milling before the bandsaw came on the scene, i was wearing gloves today (rare occurrence) and didnt notice the cable tie slipping - it happened several times, and unfortunately TCD managed to get it on film... The whole tree went for firewood (still got about 10' of the 56" dia. trunk left). I find i cannot get rid of beech at all as people see it as a figureless timber (which is not totally untrue) and plus this was just a clearance job after the storms, the pics dont show the extensive damage the tree suffered when it hit the deck, rendering the timber useless- it was cracked to pieces. Oh yeah....390 xp which we ran in today........i'm in love with a husky......WTF???????? Nice saw Jon.
  12. Wow!!! We'll forgive you the saw, that was awesome!
  13. I am in west-ish cornwall. I dont run MVF oil because it seems to just stick and ooze everywhere no matter how careful i am with it...I know what you mean and i dont have a processor! Seems to be very thick.
  14. Dont mention landys to me at the mo........mine in for MOT failure today.......discs and pads, wheel bearings, brake caliper overhaul.......just spent 1.3k on it having clutch and gearbox..... Still, its not had any major bills for about a week now so normal service has been resumed anyway:001_tt2:
  15. You cant begin to imagine
  16. The pre-bagged stuff isnt toooo bad, as long as you cook it for quite a while with the milk and sugar in the pan at the same time, but you cant beat the real thing. I have a friend in N.cornwall who hails from india, and she has cooked it from scratch and with bags....from scratch is best, but bags arent too bad:001_smile:
  17. :blushing:For years i took a portable gas stove- the type that takes the canisters that look like aerosol cans- with me, with a percolator jug, load of cold water and ground coffee and sugar etc etc...I hate instant coffee and flask stewed tea is an acquired taste i reckon... Aladdin flasks were what i found to be the toughest and best for keeping warm, but it really is essential to pre-warm the flask with boiling water, for as long as you can. I used to fill the flask when i made my 'wake-up' brew, and then leave it till just before i went out of the door and then re-fill it with fresh boiling water or soup or whatever i was taking. Still piping hot at the end of the day, even on really long days working into the night.
  18. Wow, thats a very white chariot mate..
  19. The last time i had the misfortune to be in a maccy d car park (to pick up the missus not buy any poisoned foulness) the boy racer/ hairdresser crew were there with boots open and happy hardcore pumping out (they have noooo taste in musack at all).........suffice to say voices were raised and a large axe seemed to find its way out of the back of my landy:blushing:.....Yeah, i know, before you say anything......They are just litle tossers round here tho and someone was having a less than satisfactory day shall we say:sneaky2:
  20. James it all comes down to justification in your RA really. AFAG guidelines are all well and good, but they are gudelines and cant be expected to cover every situation. Two guys right next to each other is IMO as safe as 2 guys working well apart . They teach 2 tree lengths and a 'buddy system' (eg central fueling point and a pointer that has to be moved by each man; if its not moved when you come to fuel up then your mate may be in trouble) which is all well and good on paper, but if that is the only way of knowing your mate is seriously injured then by the time you get to him he is more than likely to be cold or close to it anyway...
  21. Sorry, Tim, did you REALLY own that thing?:scared1:
  22. Now were talking.....fast fiestas.......its like being in Camborne Macdonalds of an evening:lol:
  23. Sweeeeet!! Ill have a couple at that price- i have a big conny hedge to take out next week.LOL
  24. Now you're talking:lol:
