  1. Yes i think it's a Q. cerris actually, sorry no better pictures yet, back on next monday. It is thinner than that photo shows. Not too sure what to say to the customer... Thanks Charlie.
  2. are you saying you'd remove it!? I'm worried now, never thought you'd say that!? I'll be back monday and get some more pictures, try and have a chat with the customer. Charlie
  3. Yes but the color doesn't look right to me..... too yellow/orange for any pics of Grifola i've seen..... i'm not sure.
  4. Stupid question, is this Meripilus, not Grifola Frondosa? I know the latter is much more likely to be found on oak, but this looks more like meripilus to me? Never seen Grif F. before so i don't know how to tell the difference:blushing: Thats not a very good picture, there's not much epicormic/inner crown except on 1 limb, its just a bit thin throughout. Customer has lived there 8 years, no ground disturbance as far as she remembers. Tree hasn't been reduced or anything, a few larger branches crown lifted. Makes sense that it is being saprobic (spell?) on dead roots- I wasn't concerned until i stepped back and the tree didn't look healthy. Any idea about costs of an air spade investigation? Not sure the customer would go for it... Charlie.
  5. Found this today (I think ), thought it was pretty rare on anything but Beech? Just wondered if it is as significant as finding it on Beech? Tree is approx 60 feet, maybe 2 foot DBH, in the middle of a customers garden, at most 70 feet from their house, right over kids play area. Tree doesn't seem to be 'dieing back' but does seem a little thin. Sorry for the poor pictures, busy day but will be back tomorrow. Charlie. EDIT: sorry don't know how to rotate the first 2 pics?
  6. I get up to 33mpg over a tank out of my old shape without a trailer. wheels spin with the awful standard bridgestone tyres (now have BFG all terrains which are much better) Bought my 06 plate 1 year ago on 108K miles. Now its done 130K and still going strong. Main problems for me- slow pulling trailer up a hill, very poor turning circle. Love my L200 Charlie.
  7. Thanks Sounds like the course for me. Think i'll give myself a year off education and start it with the new 'level 4' status next year! Thanks Charlie.
  8. Thanks for all the replies Monkey puzzle - I think the degree is a bit far for me via distance learning, I imagine it takes several years of study. Wish i had gone for it when i was a bit younger! Paul barton - do you know how it is changing? is it getting more difficult or just being bumped up to a level 4? being able to extend it sounds good! I will contact treelife- they have a centre near me but appears they are full for this year. janey- thanks, i've done the ND, and didn't find the theory side particularly challenging- do you think the Tech Cert is a worthwhile 'upgrade'? elicokiz - i wasn't aware the ND had changed. I did have to do work experience for mine- about 6 weeks i think. Thanks Charlie.
  9. Hi I have done a National Diploma, and am thinking about doing the Tech Cert online. Is the Tech cert very challenging compared to the ND? Thanks Charlie.

BMS? So does young I. hispidus not have a white underside? Is the second ash tree with several I. hispidus likely to fail like the first? Thanks, Charlie

Hi, I just wondering what these are: Hosted on roadside Ash. My first thought for the brown bracket was Innonotus Hispidus, but my book tells me it should be white underneath? 1 Ash tree 2 brown bracket saturday 3 unknown on saturday 4 brown bracket today 5 white fungi today 6 more on the other side of the tree! 7 branch on neighboring ash 8 stem of neighboring ash (Is this also likely to fail?) 9 Small purple fungi on Hornbeam coppice stool on sunday 10 Small purple fungi today. Its probably too early to tell but the only purple fungi I can find is Ganoderma lucidum? Any help appreciated! Charlie.
  15. Sounds better than the one i'm using. You think the ladder rack is strong enough? I was worried about that. This is the one i have: Superwinch LT2000 12v DC Winch 907kg Pull - Machine Mart I had it fitted to the chipper, and the wire kept coming off the side of the drum and is now stuck there And the lead for the remote is quite short. The ramps for a tipper trailer are pretty steep, so its tough for 2 of us soft southerners to push it up/down
  16. Yeah i'm using 8ft ifor ramps. Do you know what make your winch is? and any pics of how you run it? I'm very jealous
  17. How do most people transport thier mini chippers? Or more specifically get them in/out of their trailers? I've been struggling to get mine in and out of my tipping trailer (very steep ramps). I have been using a small 12V winch on the chipper, but it wasn't really up to the job and is now broken! Apart from that I love my CS100!! Charlie
  18. old shape is 2700KG, new shape maybe the same.
  19. Thanks. Think i will order 100 soon and see how they go down with the customers
  20. Agreed, i've done jobs for people that have well over paid, AND got a bad job from door knocking types. Looks good So how much per 100 or 500 delivered? PM if you don't want to share price in public please
  21. Cheap NEW Jo Beau M200 Narrow Access Wood Chipper - Arbtalk Classifieds Good to hear that Mr Jones.
  22. So you just run yours till it stops pulling stuff in then change/sharpen them? Hes half way across the country... I might have to buy a nice shiny ifor instead I think i would get one of those, thanks Andy.
  23. Got a demo of the 18HP greenmech today Still not happy with my local dealer (although apparently he is normally very good) so got a demo direct from Greenmech. Great little machine Good points: Easy to move around Chips better than i thought (don't have to sned everything too much) Didn't mind the 4.5"ish piece i put through (only took a bit at a time rather than pulling it all through quickly) Mike from greenmech very friendly and helpful Didn't vibrate brash as much as i was expecting while feeding- less so than holding material going into a 6" TW- could be down to material. Bad points Greenmech little trailer no good for me No hour clock (i think would be great to help with servicing/blade changes) Now i want the more expensive 18hp version Now i've just got to decide one of these plus a little ifor vs a 6inch road tow chipping straight into the back of my pickup...
