  3. an old saw or brushcutter with a hose offa the exhaust, shove that in the rat holes, give a good blast and choke em out, that'll have the ratties runnin for the dogs and saves the fereets doin battle, let them do their work on the bunnies.
  4. grockles, hahaha love that term, thought is was just a devon/conrwall thing tho.
  5. thats not soo bad, little bugger of a robin made a nest in our bbq t'other year. detroyed the chance of any spring time flame cooked treats!
  6. sending the soil to pH of 10.5 ait gonna be going too favourably for plantings, thats really quite a high alkalinity, and worms, afaik, wont much like it either, i'm lead to believe there quite sensitive to pH 6 - 7 mark.
  7. Aye man, i have some (most) of my lectures with the forestry class. I know your bro, threw me for a second tho, we have 2 stu blair's, didnt think our stu had a brother. Yve_clark yeah that'd be cool, jus havin a butchers at your site the now.

  9. aye, moved up here nearly 2 yrs ago to do my HND. Thats coming to an end and so just tryin to build myself up a bit of kit so i can hopefully be of some use once school has finished. lookin at jonesies stock list just now, looks as tho he'll be able to cater for me.
  10. i'm in inverness, after bull rope, a wirecore flipline and grab, shorter length of climbing line want some armour pruss just to try out, some steel krabs and a cpl of slings.... can you tell its nearly time for the loan to come in!
  11. does anyone know of a company that can get purchased kit to the highlands in a day or two with-out massive delivery charges, i.e someone based up this way! any suggestions much appreciated. cheers.
  12. aye, exact same situation for the one i found, someone was on a mission last year!
  13. here Stephen, that picture with the telly in the view, was that taken around this time last year? got a very similar picture myself from over on Skye... yorkshire pud, if your over the inverness way Reelig glen is worth a lil visit to see some supertall Douglas. if you do lochness from the west coast dont go on the northern road, use the south side, slower goin, but much nicer, falls of foyers ont way through, good little pub at dores, sells some of the Cairngorm breweries ales as well as other highland brewed ale, look out for tradewinds and ossian. if you head east a bit there a huge layered beech on the Cawdor (i think it is) estate. if you go north on the A9 theres good eating at 'The Storehouse' at foulis. then not too far drive from there is a nice walk upto the fyerish monument, around the base of the hill which it stands on theres some monster sitka.
  14. never knock the pink pound!
  15. judge it by location, surely thats purdy obvious, if its an interview for a big company and youve gotta go to an office, dress for the office, i'm no a suit man myself, but clean smart, pressed shirt, same for the trousers, belt matching the tone of shoes and coat, brown leather is my prefered choice. if the interview is in the nature of meet me on site somewhere, turn up in your work clobber, but wear summit reasonable, not that battered old shirt that reads 'same s--- different day' have your ppe and tackle with you.
  16. thats how we roll now.... its a sad state of affairs, but does go a step towards advocating keeping old polluting motors on the road, a battered old hi-lux wouldnt have that problem
  17. positions filled? I'm based up in inverness and have transport, cs 30 and 31, have never worked on the saw but am keen to gain some experience. At present I am tied in with college and other work but willing to put time in on any odd days i can if thats any use to you? feel free to contact me on [email protected] or call 07834813258 if i could be of any use. cheers Russ
  18. did anyone mention to the 'artist' that the oceans are the lungs of the world? and as said, what a joke shipping/flying stumps from Ghana to London and then to Copenhagen to highlight climate change... hippycrits.
  19. sounds like a fun job to be on, but where do they stand when people on the lower floors complain that the trees are blocking sun-light to the windows and that its affecting thier health etc... or are the apartments all on the upper floors?
  20. Cant believe this, Ive just returned from Exeter back up to the Highlands to take on some more debt and do second year of HND Arb that consists entirely of forestry modules.... now theres two jobs being offered in and around Exeter! well best of luck to the guys who get the jobs. And If theres anyone from Inverness area reading this that needs an extra pair of hands occasionally, I offer my services. I have NPTC CS30+31 and 38. I have basic climbing kit should it be required. I have transport and my fone number is 07834 813 258.
  21. treemagic 45m Bonsai 7 metre blaze..... to be replaced after using it to drag car out. beal regate prussiks DMM sentinel and DMM big boa and DMM lynx HMS krabs couple of slings
  22. and why would a usb chainsaw have a spark plug?
  23. this seems crazy, ive only been living in scotland for a year and the i'm well sucked into the idea that people should be able to go where they want. I got asked to leave a piece of land while i was in Englandshire collecting samples for a project. The cheek of it, the land happened to be a spot of old quarry that i had played in since the year dot, now some chaps bought it and i got asked not to go there. psshhhh. I'll say no more, apparantly the owner is an arb and he might be here. in ways relating to the actual thread. yeah sounds like a ball ache to own woodland in said situation, but i have no experience in the field so what my opinion is worth is up to you.
