I knew i'd get some stick for this... I was thinking the same - get paid twice for the same tree, bonus! Thing is, if it was in my garden it would make me cringe every time I looked at it. And yes, I know it looks s**t - but again its what she wanted... even the growth points left are exactly what she wanted, and cut exactly where she wanted them cut. It would have looked silly even pollarding it, it would just be a pole left, but it would have been preferable to the current end result. its ok through cause I wasnt in my truck and the high viz I was wearing had someone elses name on it!!

LOL! Thats what she wanted.... I said it should come right down as it was leaning toward the house and the back side (not pictured) shows signs of decay. However she did say that if she dosent like it in a years time she'll get me back to drop it... like I said above, what do you do?? what the customer wants or what you believe should be done?

Apparently I am an 'arsehole' for doing this to a Eucalyptus: But despite my advice, it is exactly what the cutomer wanted. What do you do? Refuse the work?? Opinions please!!? (dont be too nasty!)

lol! I used to use a hammer with string tied round the head... Sure that looked really professional!! Have since used my trusty throw bag and would never go back...

I like the big boa Karabs, but I prefer a large single karab for my main line and prusik - the sentinel 3-way carabiners are very good for your strop or flipline and for your secondary attachement.

lol, the girlfriends sister is literally 15 mins drive from malaga airport - it's a real bind I can tell you!!! You're right, not many big trees about, but plenty of pruning as far as i'm aware. -

Rich - yep, based in Carrbridge. We do allot of work in the Grantown area. Shreks wee brother - the dogging is much more scenic up here!!!

Go for a branch you know you can get your throwline over or even your mainline, if it happens to be lower down than you want then just get up there and get your next line in when you get there - sometimes you could spend all day trying to get a throwline over the branch you want. Everyone is saying practice and it's true, also technique... I feed the throwline through the ring on my throwbag so it's back on itself and then let some line out, so you end up holing the throwline in both hands and the throwbag weights down the middle of the line, then you can use it as a kind of catapult from between your legs...

That'll be the one!! I noticed the tree is shot to pieces, I thought the wind will have taken it over like that, but all the heartwood is missing - she'd been dead a very long time.

I'll second that - contact Cameron at Trust Insurance I have all my insurance with them, and you get an extra 25% off commercial vehicle insurance if you have your commercial policy with them. 5m PL, 10M EL, No restrictions whatsoever and covered for all utility/rail work (green zone only) 5 full or part time members of staff + sub-contractors.

It was very nearly decked, but I thought it looked quite cool and decided to leave it - if nothing else it will aid the standing deadwood policy that's in place in the wood. Only problem is that it's not far off a public path but the powers that be can decide what they want done with it.
