  1. it's either Cruz-Campo or San Miguel for me - both are beertastically cheap over there! Dont drink larger as a rule so dunno if it's better or worse than any others? I'm a John Smiths or Belhaven Best man personally!
  2. Chris from Treemagineers told me that the Ocean Polyester was developed specifically for friction hitches.... and the testing they put it through was pretty tough too.
  3. Yep - being an ignorant alcoholic foodie just helps a bit )
  4. Dont suppose lock tite or something would hold it on for you?? Don't talk to me about 200T's - I bought a brand new one about two weeks ago and already i've had to send it back cause it wont run right.
  5. Cheers Peter... I was wondering how they manage to get the right lengths for people when they sell them with stiched eyes..
  6. We had 6 people through today and we were finished nice and early. I dont know how they could make it last two days. Its not rocket science I've got 5 of us to put through chipper tickets at the end of february, and we're being told that we have to do all the training on one day, and the assessments the next day - like you say, it's not rocket science, how can it take a day to learn how to operate a chipper?? I'm convinced its just a money making thing..
  7. Can you get extra funding for new picnic benches?? hehe. Is the chipper course still a one-day affair?? I was told recently that they're going to be changing it to a two day job!
  8. And I was mocked last week when trying to find out about international disaster clear-ups.... tut tut !!
  9. My father owns a smallish industrial estate and yard area....I believe the going rate is about £3.00 per month for each square foot of wind/watertight unit and much less for yard space. If you end up renting a unit, remember that there'll be rates on top of your rent + electric etc. The guy I used to work for in Suffolk rented his yard off a local estate, think he was paying £50 all in a month for the yard space + an old barn to store equipment.
  10. Is it just one saw you have this problem with?? Reason for asking is that I use NGK plugs, but only cause that's all we can get, and dont seem to have any bother at all - could it be that your HT lead is slightly worn in the cap??
  11. Does anybody use the Ocean Polyester prusiks from Treemagineers?? Thinking about buying a couple but thought i'd get some opinions first.. Matt
  12. Ah well, it has to be at someone's expense I suppose!!
  13. I have tried to get into the habit of not leaving any pegs at all these days - but for the simple reason that if I leave a peg, I have a tendency to stand on it when i'm above it, and whilst doing a job a couple of months back I stood on said peg and soon found out that when wearing spikes standing on pegs is a very slippery business! Needless to say I scared the s**t out of myself and since then no pegs.
  14. LOL - is that the only job you've seen me do?! (hope so!! hehe)
  15. Tommy - I live in Carrbridge! The night doo is a great laugh... and it's a beautiful highland spot to boot. When you come up we should get a beer. Matt
  16. In all honesty...... I was brickin it!! Didnt feel comfortable in the tree, and for whatever reason I left pegs cause I was worried about my rope and flip line slipping... Sounds stupid I know, but there's the truth. Shreks Wee Brother has already jarred me about it!
  17. I must admit, I was a bit worried about posting the photo, but it is interesting to hear that others have been in the same situation. I did explain before carrying out the work that it would be of no benefit to the tree really and that it would look awful for a couple of years. My professional advice to the customer was to remove the re-plant as the tree was leaning toward the house and was particularly overbearing in that particular part of the garden. The customer had other ideas.... what can I say.. I drove a long way to do the job, which was originally going to be a dismantle and take down and when I got there she had all these big ideas about what she wanted done. The only thoughts about the work to me were that there's twice as much effort and time involved in doing this monstrosity of a job than it would have been to just docter it up and chog it down. This is the first time i've been caught like this, and I think in future I may well walk away. Reason being that to me, I'm only as good as my last job.
  18. I'll second that - what a size of a bar!! Must be fun dropping big sticks like that, and at the same time it must be a nightmare - it must be difficult just to pick the saw up!
  19. Tommy, do you ever come up for the Carve Carrbidge competition??
  20. LOL thats nuts. Didn't realise you could get bars for stihl over 48''?! is the 090 the same engine size as the 880? (121cc)
  21. Aye - there was one where he found a 'dead deer' and utilised it for meat, problem was one of the stalkers at Kinveachy had slotted it for them the day before !! Sylvestris Stew might know a bit more about that..
