  1. Only pro's climb above their TIP.
  2. Don't treat double stems as single trees unless it is for a specific reason, you can anchor in the larger one, then swing over to the smaller one, do the smaller one first, then get back the larger one, it will save you a lot of time and faffing.
  3. Got any more pictures of how the rope cam is attached to the bridge plate? looks like a decent idea, at the moment i am using 2 carabiners and a tape sling to increase my bridge length for ascents, this would make it much more streamlined.
  4. We've got a new trainee at the moment, and he hasn't even got his boots on before i've got my anchor point.
  5. At the moment i am using a sort of bastardized distel with 4 wraps on my side strop, its on tachyon braid, friction cord is sirius tied with 2 double fishermans, pulley is a hitchclimber.
  6. Capel Manor are good at hooking up apprenticeships these days, other than that, do what i did and phone every company in the yellow pages that you can commute to.
  7. It's great, best thing that happened to my climbing lol.
  8. I buy my own when i shouldn't have to, the boss only provides them crap sticky gloves, cant even do a carabiner in them.
  9. got any cut ends of rope you can make a sling out of? combine that with a carabiner, or use a tape sling.
  10. The amount of times ive put them on then had a wig out and thrown em off on a hand over hand hahaha!
  11. I get about 3 weeks out of mine, the grip goes towards the end, which is an arse with the zigzag.
  12. the pfanner latex gloves, propper decent.
  13. the footage it takes looks decent for the money.
  14. This is the one i did originally, much more in depth, i still got greens and labour though.
  15. That is a great website, really good for undecided voters, i did it about 2 months back, i got mostly green, some labour.

Winging some positive vibes your way Sean, All the best mate.
  18. Because there is big money in link spamming, every person that clicks one of them links in a forum is a penny in the spammers pocket from the company that they are linking too, it's as old as the internet.
  19. Ooops! so 1234554321 is too simple? lol
  20. Cheers for all the replies guys, Eye opener getting your opinions for sure.
  21. I understand it is all about what my boss is willing to pay me, but a lead climber on a second climbers rate? i just imagined i would be starting to move up by now, the other perks are negligable, 28 days hol, no overtime, no propper weekend work, no bonus scheme, there is a health insurance scheme but you have to pay into it.
  22. Been umming and aaahing over posting this for a while now. Im a lead climber with 6 years experience in arb, 1 year grounding and trainee climbing as an apprentice, another year as second climber/groundy and 4 years as a first climber, i have cs 30 31 38 39 pa 1 and 6 an nvq lvl2 in arboriculture and an apprenticeship in tree's and timber, also have a uk driving licence, but no towing licence. I feel these days that i don't ever turn up to a job and think i can't do it. Im getting paid around 92 quid a day on PAYE, my boss recently took on another climber who was getting more than me(and from the opinion of the groundies was worth less), and a second climber/groundy who is on around the same as me. do you think that what i am being paid is reasonable? also is my boss out of line for paying them that pay grade? Basically to get to the crux, i wanted to ask anyone else on out there that is on PAYE to reply and tell me what you think, or if you are more forthcoming, drop me a pm and compare your rate.
  23. Pain in the arse from experience.
