  1. We've been doing some zip lining recently, using a petzl tandem pulley which only fits <13mm rope. We've used an old climbing line, yale XTC, but wonder whether something stronger would be better and allow us to take bigger pieces. What do you use?
  2. I would choose build quality over weight, say for example the new Forst vs. the Timberwolf 230. Both 6inch chippers, but you have to wonder why the Timberwolf is 200kg lighter.
  3. how much are the blades for the ST6?
  4. Ash tree. Land gradually moves downhill, so dry stone walls built accross the hill will need rebuilding now and again. Walls built up/down the hill, less so. The tree will put additional pressure on the wall so best removed IMO.
  5. thanks for the replies. GRP sounds like the answer. Does anybody know where I can get some from? Can't find any on Google, I'm just getting ferry boarding times and patterned grp boards for bathrooms!
  6. I'm modifying a truck for work, and just have the chip box to build. I'm thinking of making a steel frame and want to board it on the inside. The last prototype I made used stockboard, which is an agricultural recycled plastic alternative to timber plywood, and comes in the same sizes, 9mm, 12mm and 18mm. The trouble is, it swells in the heat and goes all wavy, and doesn't shrink back to its original size. I'm looking for an alternative, synthetic, water proof product that will do the same job. I wonder what tipmaster and the like use? Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
  7. Best method for cleaning helmets is the dishwasher on a 35degree wash. Comes out like new.
  8. yorkshire tree contractors have a massive chip pile at Palmers garden centre, near farsley, as craig said.
  9. thanks everyone that's interesting. I do tow the chipper with a 12V vehicle some of the time, so didn't want to swap bulbs for 24V, although I might give it a try and see how dim they are. dual voltage leds I suppose would be option 2.
  10. Found THIS on eBay, but has anybody got any better advice please?
  11. Work trousers by engelbert strauss
  12. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 25" on a 441, and would use a bigger saw for milling, such as the 660 or bigger. Sounds like you need a new two new saws. A 660 and a 362.
  13. I would agree, the remains of last years bracket is black, rather than white. so Phaeolus it is, shame.
  14. Looks like young growth of Chicken of the woods, Laetiporous sulphureus.
  15. Thanks that's a useful place. Just need somebody to build me a tool pod.
  16. Can anybody recommend me a company who will manufacture a tool box with roller shutter doors for my tipper? Preferrably up North I also need a supplier of tipper body spares, brackets, hinge pins etc. Thanks in advance people
  17. I've not seen these. I use the Liteanchor, which is great. Nicely engineered piece of kit.
  18. They look a bit horse-rider ish.
  19. Just don't tell her, that's what I do
  20. Whenever I need 4x4 capability to get the chipper to the work site, it's usually possible to spray the chip about, or get a farm trailer, or make habitat piles, or have a bonfire.
  21. The mount was £585 including VAT from TBR accessories. It's made of 6mm steel and replaces the front part of the bash plate (which is like 1.5mm steel) as well as the cross member between the chassis rails, so improved strength all round. Hey treequip I hear you there, yeah good idea. Ferguson forestry, it's the only one available, so I didn't have much choice. We'll see if I bend the fairlead! Seems OK to me.
