  14. give the blokes a break with all the lives they save,it could of been during or after a storm when the tree firms could of been busy so they did what they could and got it done,my mate used to be in the fire service and used to train the other blokes with dealing with wind blown trees before health and saftey got hold of them

  16. sound good what you would like to do good luck with finding a wood ,If i was on the look out for a small wood to manage when buying one i would think is it near a main road could i have big costs in dealing with dangerous road side trees eg trafficmanagement and if it was would have a good look at the trees along it,hopefully the wood would have good tracks and access for a lorry to pick up wood.
  17. What do you mean What? i was just pointing out my mistake had been pointed out by b101uk already

  22. cheers. didnt load the first trailer of chipwood up full until the lorry was hitched up so could top it up. after that we had to dome the tops over the pins to get the weight with the other loads .the logs in the stack were cut at 8ft2" anything 12" and over and to be collected by a lorry with a crane
  23. cheers mate they do smell good. i like a big job to get stuck into
  24. i dont know mate you were doing that when we were boshing the pops the bloke on the corner was after them but were gone one night ,we felled a sycamore just up from there by the bus stop 2 weeks ago and told him he could have them i see who ever nicked your logs left the knotted had to split bits
  25. had fun the other month working with contractors (daisy and brian and richard c my work mate)felling these it was 4 rows along a road 120 in all they were planted as a boundry 22 years ago with ash cherry lime and oak it was fun getting them down with out crushing the other trees i felled a row but mainly spent the time putting the winch cable up snedding cross cutting anf forwarding the wood to road side and loading trailers, aspen also came to take the tops of 3 that couldnt be felled in 1 near a busy junction.daisy and brian are both in there 60s and the best cutters i have ever known they dont mess about will get richard c to post his pics of daisys county in action:thumbup1:
