  1. you can speed up training tenfold with them, no more standing around or dreaming. if something needs said you just say it, not let it piss you off for 30mins till you come out the tree and go ragey ragey.. if you ever want to try them out, take a run up mate. i think you are about 3hrs away.
  2. stump grinding is a good earner. its all down to the maintenance of the machine and the operator. spend time with a pick and keep it sharp. mr ed knows his stuff by the sound of it, if you 2 are close then you are onto a winner. 500quid. at least buy it and sell it again. if he is an old guy with a well looked after machine then he will have a good rep. i found the less complicated the machine the better. not a job i like doing but as things are quieter i am not as fussy. the going rate up here is 40quid a foot. but stumpbusters get cheaper the more you get them to do. our local guy will stick you on a half or day rate.
  3. not sure what make it is, i damaged the microphone cable so i gave it to someone to get fix, he stripped it and traced the parts. it is the same stuff the american swat teams use. it was 600 new. i got them for 350. built in to 2 helmets. but they are on the stihl hats which i dont like. i need to find someone who can swap the muffs to the petzl. worth every penny.no wasted time on a job. when you are up a tree you see everything before it happens. no more waving arms or waiting till someone looks up. even when you send a new boy to the mog to get something you can be round the other side of the house telling him what to do.
  4. dengie, just looked it up on google earth, that looks like pretty amazing farmland. i bet there are some good views there. i would love to head down that way and drive round the southern coast. once i convert the mog into a camper i will be jamming.
  5. too much money sitting in the yard not making money, that was my plan when i went down the valmet route, glad i downsized a few years ago. If it sells it sells. any luck with the merc?

  6. good job, thats a fair size tree your up there mate. its an ill wind they say,
  7. you can here the brakes coming on at the end i think, what a dick. He will come a cropper soon me thinks
  8. nothing mate, phone has went dead. weather is crap. not bothered just yet as i cant get to work, my wee one isnt too good so i am looking after other boy and up and down to hospital every day. but he is on the mend thank god. if i want work i can soon find some if i am stuck,
  9. galston and kilmarnock are about 30-40 mins from me. still comes under ayrshire. will try and get those spikes this weekend mate
  10. east coast, big jumpers in summer no chance. thats the edge of the earth to me. like the new avatar mate:001_smile:
  11. the weather is pretty rough up here on the west coast, whats it like with you guys?
  12. i think its a big weakness in all the cutting trousers i have ever had, the groin area always goes, and no protection. i know a saw shouldnt be there, but it shouldnt be sunk into the leg either but it happens.
  13. i have had 3 email in the last month regarding logs and chip. 2 household.1 university. all asked for moisure content. and if they only cost between 20-50pounds most will end up buying one i think.
  14. 3 tie wraps, job done. the bottom stitching will probably go on the legs aswell mate. i got mine at the apf, so cant take them back anyway. great trousers
  15. it does look that way tim but it actually falls towards the camera. have been caught out before when felling big stuff in a wood, then all of a sudden something crashes down beside you:scared1:
  16. i have had one for over 9 years now, cost me 35quid in nz. great jackets:001_smile:
  17. i think it all depends on the input you give the kids when you see them. my wife has an amazing relationship with her dad, and she saw him once a fortnight on a sunday. she has no bad memorys of him. just all big fun adventures. I spent every minute with my dad up to the age of 14. now we struggle to be in the same room for more than 10minutes. sometimes you can be too close and smother them. its a hard one mate, one i hope i never have to make. best of luck.
  18. cracking big base on that pop, i believe the photo wont do it justice. Are you wanting it taken down to the fork? i think pete and edd will have that done in 10 mins mate.
  19. my bluetooth are excellent, but the range is 200m. i dont know if that is enough. you can have a conversation no bother if someone is feeding chipper and other is working saw. really clear and it muffles out all other noises.
  20. same old same old, thats why i crown reduce bagonias these days. the big pound signs always lure you in, but glad you guys didnt get burned.
  21. it sounded very tempting, even from all the way up here. the excavator must have been great on site.
  22. was that the contract that was advertised in the btm last year? it rings a bell.
