being a 2 krabs and prussik man, that looks amazing, i see in the last 2 pics you have 2 friction hitches and the first pics there is a small pulley. i take it if you know how to do all this life is so much easier climbing big trees:001_smile:

if you think it could roll, get a winch onto it, or jam some stuff at the underside to stop it rolling, being scared is what keeps you alive nugsy. you dont realise it but you will have learnt loads today from that tree and your scare. when you go to bed tonight your brain will sort it all out for you, next tree will be so much easier. we all need little brushes with danger here or there from time to time mate.

i have tried loads of times but no joy mate, if you want a big tree felled for lunch time i am your man, dont know much about computers though:confused1:

dont get excited and take off the big ones first. if its on a hill, go to the top side. get as much of the compresion wood off first, dont leave any bayonets to jab you. its best to have cat like reactions. sycamore is very brittol. always clear your feet, dont go stumbling in, take off the tunnel vision goggles and look at the whole picture. you were obviouslty in the wrong place, you just didnt know it, now you do. i always use the biggest saw i can on big crowns, loads of power, even if you get it wrong on the small ones you can get away with it, you need to cut through fast. but even guys that have been doing it for years get caught out on windblow and the likes.

could someone post some pics of where you would expect to find bats, i can only think of a big hollow dead elm or the likes. are they hiding in healthy trees in gardens?i have never seen one in or around a tree,

my mate jason(the lad who felled the redwood in the pic) is a big lad. big waist short legs, used to play rugby. he has worn stretch airs for the last 2 years, same pair. i have had mine for 2 half years as good as new apart from the zip. braces will help hold them up higher, but he complains about braces because he:001_smile: has big nips:blushing:

i have a monster lowering line, about an inch diameter, 200 feet long, alloy pulley, whoopy slings and a rigging device that goes at the base of the tree. hardly use it, you need a good ground crew for it, if they get it wrong its a pain. but when i need it its there. i always have an old climbing line and small slings in the bag for wee stuff, and i would be lieing if i said i had never used the end of my climbing line and a wee nug, and done it myself:blushing:

the world food organisation stopped them using the word chicken, because they use genetically enhanced organisms. no beaks, no feathers, no feet. it is plugged in and kept alive with a blood flow and some nutrients. notice they never use the word chicken anywhere any more. quick and easy to grow.:scared1:havent had one in years mate.

pitta bread, snipped up with scissors into small triangles(optional)place on a baking tray, slather with olive oil, black pepper and rock salt and shake over a lot of paprika. place in a hot oven until brown and crispy. enjoy:001_smile:

i brought a climber in for the reduction before felling, so i could do other things on the site, he walked off saying he wasnt going to bust a gut and i didnt have a ladder to access. so i stripped her to 60 foot and ready to fell with half a tank of a 026 and a couple of big thidumps with an 046.in 90mins. she was a bitch to get a start on because she was so wide, but a bit of rope sawing and it was a piece of bun. so we left for 11 am, and came back the next day to fell with the mog. bottom slice would of needed a 6 foot bar and a hiab to lift it. it was 92yrs old approx. all the branches were getting mulched and tidied with a mini-digger so it was just thumpity thump.proper job she was.

a bit of both mate:blushing:i climbed it and took out the top 50 feet, and set up the winch cable, my mate jason felled it. the pic doesnt do the girth at the base justice. he has just happened to of lost my climbing pics:sneaky2: it was in helensburgh.i will stick some pics on the general tree pics for you:001_smile:
