As a new owner of a grapple saw I had a great morning yesterday, there’s a lot to learn, all to avoid damaging the bar and chain. And tips and pics appreciated. In my excitement yesterday I grabbed, cut and the top fell off the tree and I remained grabbing the trunk 😂. Note to brain, the push bit is the top!

Morning, dry here. Temp has dropped to 5 degrees. Heading off to use the new head on the Robo flail today so looking forward to that.

The 1 at the front, same machine model just 1 year newer but smoother on the tracks and hydraulics.

I never tried any other saws, didn’t try this 1. I just buy stuff. it’s on a 6t machine. used it today around the yard cutting back some overhang. Just amazing sitting cutting and lifting limbs knowing how much time and effort it saves.
-
Morning gents, beautiful blue sky here’s we got some rain yesterday just as our Carve came to an end. Heading round to start the clear up.
-
Got my grapple saw fitted yesterday and only had some saplings to try it on before having to go set my stand up for the local Carving event.

The additional pump means nothing, when you track the flow for the Auxiliiaries just disappears. If you have a green climber you’ve set your bat way to high to go to aflail on a wee digger. I’ve a Robo flail and it out performs any Flail on a digger over had, even the 13 tonner. To track and flail you need to go at just faster than not moving 😂. You can’t flail lifting, you have to set high, flail on the down direction and side to side, off the button, lift back up and repeat. Even changing he’d angle looses power. My mates selling a Bomford side arm for the tractor for £5k, stick that on a tractor if your jobs allow. And if you need a digger for digging, buy 1 for doing just that.

Tony flailing with a 2.7t digger is for when you can’t be arsed putting a blade on a strimmer, and tbh sometimes you’d be quicker with the strimmer. If it’s light bramble and jaggies work in areas you can only get a 5’ machine in with a lot of stones or uneven ground, then use the digger and flail. If it’s not that then you’ll soon get frustrates with the flail. More info on you lots of flailing. Regarding the longer boom, if it’s a zero turn machine it will buckaroo you all day long in the seat and will restrict your lifting capacity.

Morning all, some well needed rain yesterday and last night.dry just now but forecast is for some more. Today’s a big day, I’m getting a grapplesaw! I’ve dreamt of 1 of these since before they got invented I think! Every tree around my mates yards getting a hair cut and I’ll get my bar straightening machines ready!
-
Morning gents, wee bit of rain yesterday and through the night, we are certainly needing it. Another day of potterchoresery for me.

Afternoon, slept till 8.07am! I think most can appreciate the significance of that!😂 potter day looking at work, doing wee jobs that have been on the back burner, washing all the machines ready for the local carve this weekend.

Morning, rain through the night and temperature has dropped. Think we have a wet week ahead now. Tidying up the last of the storm work and a road side cut back to stop the school bus getting smacked with branches.
