  1. Wow nice old Deutz, :thumbup1:I remember watching them rot away to nothing as a kid:laugh1:
  2. It all depends on what is agreed on before hand. If they agree to getting paid while only at the job site then fair enough, work can be tight, distances may need travelled to keep a business going. I'd rather sit in a warm van for a few hours a day for nothing if it kept me in work.
  3. Get it felled if theres a road at the other side of the field.
  4. That was my main driving force to prove some folk wrong! You need a big van, with advertising all over it and a micro chipper inside. You don't need a yard if the customer keeps the stuff. Offer a splitting service and an all round maintenance package. Try and keep,it staff free for as long as you can, and look for a subby climber to help you with bigger takedowns. Forget bigger contracts , don't run before you can walk.
  5. His poor poor family jewels!!!!!
  6. I can buy a brand new Cat for £20k plus vat, and a trailer for £1500 second hand, straps are a tenner. As a guide price, brand new is 50% more tax efficient aswell and they are doing interest free credit. Diggers always sell though.
  7. if your tirfor doesnt have a handle on it, then get 1! makes such a diference. nothing i can do about the wire rope though! or the strops, or the shackles, or the chains:001_rolleyes:
  8. the Luton set up is perfect for the 1 man band micro chipping set up. i did have a wee trailer behind my van, then i got a bigger van and it went inside, but pushing up and down ramps was a bit sketchy, then i got the tail lift which is brilliant. its a diferent way of working for sure, i can fill 4 dumpy bags inside and still fit the chipper in the back, chuck the logs on the top of the bags and away i go. i hardly use it now as i have the mog, Gloria is having a wee bit of hibernating and Ldv is away for her MOT.
  9. I've used a Luton van with tail lift, it's been excellent, If u need to take stuff away I just put it in ton bags and remove. I've also got a tracked barrow so its great for that too.
